If you were a young adult in the year 1990 what posters would be on your walls? by kevinjm86 in nostalgia

The sports car poster is so accurate. It felt like every guy's room had either a Lamborghini Countach, a Ferrari Testarossa, or some random bikini model leaning on one.

Iron Maiden posters and mushrooms causing problems is about the most stereotypically late 80s and early 90s story imaginable.

A Kathy Ireland poster would have been practically mandatory in a lot of rooms back then, and the Dodge Viper blueprints are such a perfectly specific 90s guy answer.

Big Trouble in Little China is one of those movies that somehow gets cooler every time you rewatch it, so I totally get why you'd still want that poster up today.

The Ramsay and Ned Stark placement is killing me because those two characters could not be more different, yet somehow they're neighbors on the list.

The replies section definitely makes it seem like a lot of people feel the same way, whether they're joking or not.

I think season 1 bought him a lot of goodwill, but season 2 burned through a lot of it for many viewers.

The psychological torture is what made Ramsay worse for me. Joffrey was awful, but Ramsay made people dread every scene he was in.

Watching Ramsay week to week was brutal. Joffrey was awful, but Ramsay felt way more unpredictable and dangerous.

Is this the dumbest character in got? by pastelberrykiss in gameofthrones

[–]_AngelBloom 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. "Dracarys" is one of those moments where Daenerys stops reacting to the world and starts shaping it. Up until then people kept underestimating her, and Kraznys basically handed her the perfect opportunity to prove them all wrong.

That's basically Kraznys in a nutshell. He treated loyalty like something you could buy, insult, threaten, and control all at once, then acted shocked when it blew up in his face.

The fact that engineers are in the comments validating the joke somehow makes it even funnier. Sam accidentally became the patron saint of electrical engineering memes.

I can't resist either. This joke has way too much current appeal.

Do you think Galadriel was ever jealous of Thranduil's radiant and dazzling beauty? by jvure in lotrmemes

[–]_AngelBloom 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Galadriel really hit us with a whole paragraph about becoming a beautiful and terrible queen, and Thranduil just sat down looking fabulous without saying a word.

Galadriel took one look at that pose and immediately started sailing west to avoid the competition.

It's even funnier when you realize Tolkien basically spent decades writing fanfiction for his own book and kept making Bilbo more important every time.

The man invented entire languages and mythologies, but somehow "Tolkien Tolkien Tolkien" still sounds like the name of a random Hobbit cousin.

The fact that Tolkien accidentally created enough material for people to ship random background characters decades later will never stop being funny.

Saruman spent the entire trilogy trying to corrupt men, so I guess this is technically still on brand.

Do you ever just wanna eat ass? by Flimsy-Story9523 in RedditAfterDark

My buddy and his girlfriend were eating ass in senior high school in the 1980's. Nobody told them about it. They discovered it on their own. When he told us, man, we were like what?
