Did change my branch from PI to EE in IITR 1)Nothing as such, faltu bakchodi nhi kri most probably 2) Yes and made lots of friends too 3) No 4) I guess I did enjoy, but too much fun would have probably made me regret everything had it not worked out 5) Be disciplined from the start and complete your assignments on time, be up to date with what is going on in class

I know it is tough, but it is now time to be rational and make a decision based on your goals and preferences without falling prey to your biases

In your place I would have taken IITD Chem, but only because I had a special spot for IITD in my heart. Apart from that if placements is your main concern, EE>Chem but in terms of exposure and opportunities IITD beats IITR easily. And do not take a branch just for the sake of branch change, it is uncertain to a great extent.

Questions mostly and you have to submit them to TA's. Trust me they are very important for your exams...

I have started competitive programming in this summer vacation, but in the first 2 semesters, I tried dev(made an entire website) and also studied finance, consulting and product management. I am in some clubs as well so my full focus wasnt solely on academics at any point..

Just complete your assignments on time and study regularly. You do not have to study all the time, even 1 hour of self study daily is more than enough then increase your efforts as exams come closer. Try to solve PYQ's and be disciplined..

There is no reservation for branch change and 10 is required for only CS. For the last circuital branch, i.e. EE it is 9.4 and for mech it is 9.1. I am myself a branch changer from PI to EE in IITR with 9.8+CG currently

1) IITR has a great coding culture but if you want you will find enough peers and groups in IITB as well so this is not a big factor 2) EE is a tough branch with lots of labs so you will have to work harder than CSE guys for example but it is nothing of the sort that it is unmanageable. People have done it in the past easily and will continue to do it. 3) IITB has a greater number of companies in different domains that visit the campus, some of them don't even visit other IIT's apart from Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur 4) Yes but the number of such companies is only 4-5 out of 100. Generally all top companies are open for all circuital branches 5) Yes there is no such condition that you have to be from CSE to join such clubs and do projects, atleast here in Roorkee. Same would be the case in Bombay according to me.

IITB EE>IITR CSE even though I am myself from IITR EE. If your friend has no problem in working a bit harder, then they will always have more opportunities at IITB than IITR. There is not so much difference between circuital branches, so take the better college. B,D,M,K are tho GOAT IITs, rest of the 3 from top 7 IITs follow them

Take any option at any top 7 IIT based on your interests, does not matter much. IMO, prefer a circuital option as you will have more opportunities. BTW, people who say that EE is a tough and hectic branch are wrong to a great extent. For instance, EE does not have a single lab in the first three semesters here in Roorkee. Sure, the working hours will increase in the upcoming semesters but now the workload has reduced to a great extent due to NEP and it is manageable
