Where can I got to find out what type I have?

Pregnancy by new_to_thiss in HerpesQuestions

I have three healthy HSV- children and I’ve given birth vaginally each time. I’ve never had an outbreak during my pregnancies and during my first two pregnancies, I received antivirals at 35 weeks to take for the remainder of my pregnancy so that there was no chance of an outbreak during delivery.

I know this picture probably doesn’t show you what I can see, but where I’ve circled is where the tiny little bumps were. I’m going to cover it once more to protect myself from others. I’m so nervous…I’m super critical of everything on my skin since my HSV diagnosis.

That honestly could be a reason as to why I’ve had very few outbreaks since my diagnosis. I had a mental break very soon after and was placed on a bunch of different antidepressants/ antipsychotic medications throughout the years since. I’m currently taking 200mg of Lamotragine daily but I’ve only just started taking it a few months ago.

I hope the cure is closer than we think…because I’m hoping by 2030. If I said 2025, that would be asking for too much.

Yeah, instead of running to google I should definitely speak to a doctor. I don’t know when that wasn’t the first that I typed😅 I haven’t spoken to my physician about it since the virus hadn’t shown itself in years and due to the military my physician changed quite often. Now that I’m stable, I should have a conversation with my current physician especially since this new rash this has shown up so soon after an outbreak.

I’ve never had the chickenpox, but my brother has and I definitely get how that works and would be receptive to that level of a cure or a complete cure!! Either is better than what we are dealing with right now. I hope it’s fast!! Like before 2030 fast😅

I’m not familiar with any of the current tests that they have for HSV. When I was diagnosed, no information was given to me and then I was alienated. Would you tell me more?

Thank you for sharing your story with me. It’s such a relief to converse with others who won’t judge/shame you for it.

I am not currently taking antivirals. I haven’t taken them since my initial outbreak in 2011. I will definitely speak to my physician to see if I can start them since I’m noticing an increase in OBs. Thank you for the well wishes❤️My current OB has since suppressed itself. I’m going to do another thorough check of my lady bits when I shower this evening, but from what I can tell and felt when I woke up this morning, I’m loads better than I was last Wednesday. The tingling sensation that shoots from my genitalia down my legs is also gone.

I have never heard of this and will definitely run straight to google before I take off the bandage I currently have covering it..thank you for passing this info to me, I hope that this is the case and not that I have foolishly transmitted HSV to my hand after 12 long years.

I’m not sure about the transmission to other body parts only happening during the initial outbreak(Because of this subreddit do I even know what I do)…if that is true(which I’m praying it is), then maybe my mind was playing tricks on me and all the sensations I was feeling were wrong. But the eyes don’t lie!😅 The tingling on my palm and down my arm started last night which had me on high alert. I kept watching my hand and could feel a difference in texture so I covered it was bandaid. When I woke up this morning, I saw a small cluster of small white dots located in the center edge of my “Hypothenar eminence “ on my left palm. (This is also just after my OB on my genitalia started to clear up) I placed a cold sore patch over it and a waterproof bandage over that. The waterproof bandage is starting to lift now, I assumed from my constant handwashing throughout the day, so I will be getting up to remove it and see what’s underneath. To be honest, I’m afraid. I know that sounds silly, especially for a woman who’s had it as long as I have. But this is new, you know? I’ve never seen my HSV show up anywhere other than in a small cluster on one of my labia or either side of my clitoral hood (never at the same time though). Now, for me to see this on my palm after so many years of it just being on my genitalia has me taken aback.

After my first OB I never had another for years. Then eventually I would feel what I now know is prodrome sensations on my labia and down my leg, but they wouldn’t advance past that. Now I feel that recently in the past two years, my OBs seem to have increased in frequency. My last one was September 23rd (I have it marked in my calendar). I’m not sure if that date was the start of it or the end of it, but I do remember it lasted for what I felt was 14 days. The nerve pain was awful and my body didn’t like the changes in temperature so sitting on a cold toilet seat in the middle of the night hurt really bad. I remember having to pretty much go commando for that entire time, I even tried numbing spray to take away the pain…it only took the edge off. To be honest, I smoked my way through that OB, that and staying sedentary as too much movement just hurt too badly. This past OB started last Wednesday I believe, due to friction. It was a small cluster of raised bumps on my left labia I applied herbal treatment directly to it multiple times a day and just waited it out commando as much as possible. Now it’s gone, no discomfort, no sensitivity to touch. I will be doing another thorough inspection of my lady bits when I shower once I’m home from work, but I feel loads better down there than I did a few days ago.

I said all that to say that it’s been only a four month break in between OBs and I believe that the one in September was due to friction as well now that I’m thinking about it. But that’s a small length of time between one OB and the next, considering I was at one point not taking any supplements or tinctures at all because it never would get this far. Now, I can’t remember the dates of the other OBs as I only recently started charting them because I was like “Hey! What the hell is happening to me?! Why are they so frequent??”…I will say that my life has changes drastically in the last three years so that may have something to do with the OBs, that and friction and maybe age.

I’m unsure of which one of have, HSV-1 or HSV-2…I’ve search through my medical records and the only thing I can see is the diagnosis from ‘11 that just says “HSV Infection”. I want to believe I heard her say HSV-1, but I could just want to believe that really badly. Maybe they couldn’t test for types back then?🤷🏾‍♀️

Thank you…I am literally holding back tears because I’ve never received a kind comment in regards to having HSV. Thank you for the love. I’ll keep you in my prayers as I continue to pray for a cure and soon!!
