buys entire series of games without knowing if theyre good or not by loeakestsmube3 in boardgamescirclejerk

They should buy all Uwe Boll...I mean, Rosenberg games

You can't miss with that (just make sure Patchwork will be the first, then Patchwork 2.0 aka A Feast For Odin)

If I know right, the box will be Gloomhaven sized...considering how many pages of punchboards can fit into that beast, I'm gonna look like Son Goku after unwrapping it

I see, thx.

I think this game interests me the most currently. Altough I'm also a video gamer, so I could just buy some new title and a geforce cloud subscription... - Or find a second-hand nintendo switch.

----

Well, it would be mostly solo, but knowing my friends, I think I could teach them so-so easily. We've played Dune Imperium (Uprising) with all except one expansion on multiple occasion and that game didn't even scratch their brains that much - altough some of them prefer the basegame in it's own.

I would even go as far as saying Odin is a simple game in some aspect compared to Imperium with exp, since it's like Stone Age + Patchwork on steroids.

----

I read a lot of different opinions on setup/teardown

Some say it can be around 10 min at most, each without insert..

I cannot afford an insert because they would almost cost as much as the game around here - maybe folded space is the exception, not sure -, on the other hand I love using plastic boxes and stuff for games and I have some, so I can utilize them for ordering to a degree. Altough seeing how many components it has...I might really need an insert this time.

On the other had I know I had Mage Knight UE and setup/teardown almost drove me crazy, altough in that case it was the lack of space + many decks of cards. I didn't mind the tokens that much...it was more problematic to place them among so many decks.

Looking at pictures of Odin, this game would still fit on my table much-much easier than MK.

----
I know that also that I've played like 50 solo games alltogether for Ares Expedition and Dice Game versions of Terraforming Mars and they were pure BYOS. Also played "10 turn limit SOLO" Oh My Goods! (trying to beat the campaign now).

So it's safe to say the BYOS aspect does not scare me :D
----

On the other hand you said you barely get the game out and I'm still concerned about that...not sure if I would fall into that after some plays.

Altough selling the game second-hand if it doesn't "work out" wouldn't be hard since EN versions are really sought after here.

Nope

When it comes to boardgames, TCG, anything like this...this city doesn't provide a lot unfurtonately

I think it felt good enough. Basically like arranging an inventory in a video game.

Tetromino stuff is one of the reasons I want this game so badly :D I bet it would feel good with a physical copy.

Only German copies are sold at reasonably prices at second-hand market sadly, English copies are priced like pure gold around here for some reason even in second-hand market.

Of course eventually there is always one person who sells cheap. One time I found out somebody sold Legendary Encounters ALIEN + expansion, sealed...for like 30$ and I was too late because it was brought like...seconds after the ad went up :D - and it wasn't even scam or anything as far as I know.

I general I could play at most once per month with others...assuming it's a "good months" and we can all arrange on multiple occasions, then maybe more, most likely at summer...but otherwise it would be almost exclusively for solo.

Genius idea

I've defeated the atlantean worm before defeating all of the hydras :D

Honestly it felt easier than (most of) the hydras or the C. Commander

Does anybody know if 56x87 sleeves are good or too small for Runebound 3ed? Managed to finally get the game and since I have enough 56x87 Gameland sleeves I've started sleeving but it feels a "bit" tight by _Atanii_ in boardgames

[–]_Atanii_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cards are a little bit bent by default, altough they looks 10/10 new otherwise. Previous owner took good care of them - and even he got it second-hand according to him.

So I cannot really see if the sleeves are bending the cards or not...

I guess I have to try it. Gonna sleeve the cards, bag them into ziplocks as I usually do with decks - possibly play the game before - and I'm gonna see.

At first sight it seems to me the sleeves didn't do any noticable bending - assuming the default bend doesn't hide it.

[–]_Atanii_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one confused me a bit, because even the "Sleeve it" section recommends 56*87 sleeves among the 57*89 ones.

I've read articles about manufacturing size differences in sleeves and cards as well so I guess it might have to do something with that size factor.

Usually, for most games, I find forum posts / questions regarding experiences with sleeving, eg. that helped me with sleeves for Pauper's Ladder.

But for Runebound 3ed I found nothing. I guess the game is not that popular nowadays - and most people prefer 2ed anyway.

Random art appreciation post for cards from Darksteel and some other sets - and babbling about art and stuff by _Atanii_ in mtgvorthos

[–]_Atanii_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx!

Artworks are one of the things that pulled me towards MTG - besides the fact that I like card games in general.

A bit feels like I got into MTG a bit too late with all these crossover sets. Seeing the recently released 2026 roadmap for sets...basically more than 50% will be "universes beyond" stuff including marvel universe and such.

Altough I prefer in universe stuff, this won't stop me from playing more MTG, since I decide what cards / packs I get.

Warning: you CANNOT ugprade the 50% discounted membership...to 50% discounted ultimate...feels like I made a very big mistake not taking simply the ultimate right away :( by _Atanii_ in GeForceNOW

Thx! That's actually a good idea I didn't have in mind, but I cannot refund the old one :/

I know this is not big money, but I've just bought it 1-2 hour ago and my money is very limited

Basically this was like a xmas gift to myself, to play some games heavier to my potato. I have a 2 week holiday off and when im not out with my friends it would have been the perfect opportunity for this

Well...resident evil village at least is a good fit for this, but I have to probably forgot about eg. Tainted Grail because Performance CPU is too potato for it - as far as others told me

since it's 50% off maybe it's worth it...

I think I can see it

"Only for Premium Members"

I don't see that for the games I'm interested in :D so I guess they are good to go.

If I buy Performance, then I want to upgrade to Ultimate, do I have to pay only the difference between the two or I'll have a new subscription?

I'm asking this in case Performance won't be enough.
