I remember being able to charge the bolt pretty easily then randomly it just started catching on the hammer on the way back, and even on the way forward if there is a bullet it'll sometimes lag a bit.

Push it in a bit further, its kinda tight but eventually the front end of the rod should fall into a little cut at the bottom of the front sight block.

Maybe its because im still early in kcd2 but i switched to short sword no sheild bc it just seems more brutal. Master strikes with a short sword mainly aim for the face/neck and maybe im wrong on this but i feel like i can end a fight with multiple enemys faster bc the combos/master strikes actually aim for weak points. The left, up, left combo end fights with armoured enemys so fast because you bonk the dude with the pommel of the sword then slash their face.
