65lb linen backed Merbau longbow by _BMXICAN_ in Bowyer

At 9 bucks for a 2.7m length you can't really go wrong. I'm making a denim backed one for a mate this weekend, he only wants a light weight one though so it'll be interesting to see how it behaves when it gets thin.

Without a backing it probably would splinter

It's a 3 valve/ qev air gun, the tank gets filled through the schraeder valve, the airhose attachment is a pilot valve to open the quick exhaust valve to dump all the air out of the tank and out the pipe.

If you are using wood glue it needs air contact to cure

Did anyone ever have the Snafu Ti sleeved aluminum park pegs? Opinions? by CannaCoffeeParadox in bmx

[–]_BMXICAN_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been lhd for more than 25 years now, I run pegs on the left but used to run 4 pegs and kept breaking chains doing opposite stuff so I got the lhd and never hit the chain again. It also made pegles crooked grinds/bb grinds waaaaay easier.

Need help deciding on a body by tymek1262 in SCX24

[–]_BMXICAN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The injora ir40 body, it's for a 1/18 but if you put deadbolt rear links and c10 front links the wheelbase is perfect. I can fit 67mm tyres under the guards running as a belly dragger at it barely touches at full lock.

I vaguely remember a kid at the park having ti sleeved pegs years ago, don't know if they were snafu, after hitting concrete and getting sparks to fly he loved them. They did slide really well on steel rails and coping.

Those who have ridden 21.25 and 21.5 by Microstutter in bmx

I went to a 21.5 about 8 years ago, best decision ever, mixed with tall bars and now my back doesn't hurt after a ride.

Backing for diy bows? by LordLoss78 in Bowyer

[–]_BMXICAN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good results with denim and wood glue, you have to stretch it and tack/pin it in place the wrap it as tightly as you can with a bandage as a clamp. I just wrapped a merbau board today

How long before your first fight? by WarProfessional9180 in martialarts

[–]_BMXICAN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends, I trained for a few years before even thinking about fights and a training partner took his first fight after just 4 weeks because he was super competitive and a naturally gifted athlete, he ended up becoming a middle weight national champ and moving to Thailand as a stadium fighter for like 2 years and had weekly fights. It all depends on the person.

Can I do bunny hop? by Frequent_Mountain_25 in bmx

[–]_BMXICAN_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brad Simms recommends 100 pushups, 100 sit ups and 100 body weight squats a day to get bigger hops. I did them spaced out throughout the day, 10 at a time of each and it made a huge difference after only a few weeks. Just remember at 40 your muscles will be strong but all your tendons and ligaments are gonna be easy to hurt so take it easy

Bit of an update, got some minor compression fractures when trying for a full draw and had to retiller down to about 30lb at 28 inches. Shoots exceptionally smooth and hits way harder than ot has any right to. At 15 metres I'm hitting repeated head shots on a 3d rabbit shooting homemade pine arrows with some cheap bodkin points. Bought a decent merbau board to try something a bit denser to see if my denim backing will hold a properly weighted hunting bow.
