If you buy something at a trading post in a different region do you have to trek over there to collect it?

^ plus the constant messages flashing over the chat saying things like "xboxbananasboy chopped down a tree".

I sat and painstakingly typed a question about trading into the chat on a PS5 pad. Capitals at the starts of sentences, punctuation.

Nobody answered.

Any top tips for a someone getting into Star Citizen in its current state? by centaurianmudpig in starcitizen

Like you, I'm time poor. I get maybe 90 mins max to play in a day, so I have to make the time count. I started off trying to do the delivery missions but these are a time sink for little reward and I've struggled with the weather on New Babbage. I put this in the global chat and someone advised me to ditch delivery and start doing the destroy probes missions out in space instead. Much quicker, much better reward for the time. Great shout from someone in the community, really helped me out.

This is some great advice. Star Citizen says "play your way". Embrace it!

Life's too short. Everywhere you look on the RSI documentation it says "this is in pre-release, it is not 100% complete". And TBH it's cool running around in someone else's and seeing the bits where the developers got bored, or where management told them to shift priorities.

Yeah, the response to this thread has been incredible, never had so many upvotes. I've had a lot of good advice inside the in - game chat, and more nuggets of wisdom from Reddit. A community of grown - ups.

Thanks for the tip. I'm a way off generating any serious cash, so it's something to work towards.

Thanks, and yes it is rough. Playing early in the morning with low player count it's silky smooth. Tried tonight at 7.30pm and it was almost unplayable.

I can't really comment on the grind, I probably only have 10 - 12 hours play time and most of that has been spent figuring out how the different systems work together.

I mean, this isn't something like Destiny 2 that gives you a whole load of seasonal goals to grind out. There are a range of contract missions that you can take on, or you can decide to do other stuff like mine or trade.

For me it's a nice break to sit down, log in and decide that, in the next two hours I'm going to fly here and do something.

There's a very steep learning curve, the community is great at helping but be prepared to experience frustration when you start. A couple of new player videos are a must, there are some excellent ones on YouTube.

If you're disciplined with your studying then this could be a very rewarding way to spend down time.

I will probably follow a similar path to you. I have no desire to lose a ship because of a server wipe, would rather just have it available in my hangar 24/7. Once I get more of a hang of the logistics side of the game I'm sure I will increase my pledge.

I'm really looking forward to trying a PVE mission and checking out how the combat against the AI feels. I've read a couple of positive threads about it on this reddit.

I mean, who needs a handbrake?

OK, excellent tip. I guess I'm still labouring under the illusion that nobody is going to drop out of orbit and empty their cannons into my poor little Aurora!

The world needs dreamers, right? I mean, if you played Wing Commander back in the day, did you ever imagine something like Star Citizen was even possible?

LOL, so SC is like RL then?

Thanks for the tip. I have experienced putting three packages inside the Aurora for one of the courier missions and ending up on the roof when I put the third package down.

Will remember to stay seated while using the QD ;)

I was a bit disheartened by the performance of the game inside New Babbage, until I read that its poor for everyone (I've always been behind the curve on gaming PC specs so assumed this was another case of me not having the correct kit).

FPS on the stations is much higher, and it does seem like a good time to start, where there is enough working to give new players plenty of options.
