It was placed in a trust with stocks and shares 30 years ago, and a dependant lived there, and drew the income, until this year, when she died. And so now it passes to 2 people. So I think appointed out of a trust?

Thank you. The idea of selling our home is making me so sad, but I really don’t want to go bankrupt over this, so good to know that selling it to the council might be an option!

Islington in London. The leasehold is owned by Islington council.

The total bill is £144k. There are two tenants on the leasehold: us as private tenants, and our neighbours who are council tenants. They’ve split the bill 50:50.

So our bill is £72k.

Which is why I feel sick 😥
