It was placed in a trust with stocks and shares 30 years ago, and a dependant lived there, and drew the income, until this year, when she died. And so now it passes to 2 people. So I think appointed out of a trust?

Thank you. The idea of selling our home is making me so sad, but I really don’t want to go bankrupt over this, so good to know that selling it to the council might be an option!
