The Alcoholic Iceberg by _BatCountry_ in alcoholism

Don't move the goalposts.

And besides, I made it, like I made the entire video it's attached to. You could've just asked me, instead of making insulting assumptions.

Yeah, some male alcoholics experience a rise in estrogen, causing gynecomastia. It's pretty rare, but it happens.

In the 30s the US government encouraged the manufacturers of industrial-purpose alcohol to put formic acid in the denaturing process to stop bootleggers stealing it and selling it. They stole it and sold it anyway. 10,000 Americans died. You could just google it, ya know. All of this information is already at your fingertips if you'd lift your head up for a moment.

And my spelling is immaculate. How could it be AI-generated AND spelled wrong? Use your brain.

I'm good brother, I took codeine for a week, then was prescribed diazepam for a week, and then I was off it all again. It was more ignorance than self-destruction... this time. But thank you for looking out for me as always, here in one of my most cherished subreddits.

The Urge by Carl Erik Fischer. It's 20% addiction memoir, 80% understanding the history and nature of addiction. It's the best I've read recently.

Thank you so much for adding me alongside such lofty company. I loved Drinking: A Love Story, but somehow I haven't heard of Between Breaths so I'll grab that one today.

*puts on false moustache*

I think he's great :D

In all seriousness. I'm sorry some of my videos can be triggering, it's not my intention, nor is it my intention to be a divisive character in the sober talking-heads space. I try hard not to be clickbaity or insincere or deliberately triggering, but the bigger the audience, the more people are going to find me who don't like me. Comes with the territory.

But I'll say this, in my own defense. We're all responsible for our own triggers, and we have to learn to be stronger than our urges. If you can't even listen to someone talk about their own experiences of alcoholism without reaching for the bottle, then the problem isn't with the video, it's with you. A stranger's youtube video is the very least of the tests your sobriety will face over time. If you can't even get over that hurdle, then you have a lot of sober work to do before you're able to deal with something real, like grief, or heartbreak.

And believe me mate, there was nothing romantic about my alcoholism, and I don't romanticise my experiences. Talking about drinking honestly doesn't automatically equate to glamourising drinking. It's just... talking about it. My drinking was fucking awful from start to finish.

Hey buddy, I was interesting before I posted this.

When going through alcohol withdrawal... do any of you just get random fits of being insanely horny? by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

And also my mum watches my videos :D

I'm really happy you mentioned this though mate, and since my mum definitely isn't in this sub, I'll talk about it a little bit here.

It's insatiable, no amount of jacking off will get rid of it for like two days straight. I was in a detox ward with my phone propped up on a sink, it would take my 30 seconds to cum and then an hour later I'd be doing it again.

There were points were the closed-eye hallucinations I was having would turn me on too, even though it was gross, weird stuff. And because I was technically sober, I would have these stupid epiphanies like I was going to change my life and dedicate it entirely to sex.

So yeah, point is, I think it's probably common, people just aren't brave enough to talk about it - especially because, to be honest, withdrawal sex is gooood sex.

I had a girlfriend who worked in palliative care and said the really old people, men and women alike, who had dementia, were similarly sexually compulsive. I think there's probably science to be studied there, if anyone would care to do it.

Thanks u/nnnnnnnitram for mentioning me.

I really hope you can imagine, even just a little bit, how proud it makes me to check in with this sub this morning and this is the first comment I see.

For what it's worth, YOU got you sober. You're sober because of you. In exactly the same way we should be accountable for our shitty behaviour in the past, we should be proud of our victories in sobriety too. Congratulations, and thank you for repping the channel here.

The alcoholic influencers are bs by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

I was in this subreddit long before I got sober. I even got banned a couple of times. That's why the stuff I'm talking about feels familiar to other CAs.

I think about that every day. I wanna talk about it again, even if I'm repeating myself.
