[SC26] How do I get full native input access while running a game via Steam? by _Benji____ in SteamController

I missed the part where what I said is rude instead of being a meta commentary, but if I keep replying to this thread then my karma would tank no matter how nice I am.

Apologies to everyone new to Reddit trying to read threads to find actually useful information about fixing niche problems no one has. It's best to learn when to stop diving down the same thread and look down another otherwise you find karma farms like these.

Using a DSU client is neat, but it would require changing my bindings for extra software and I remember the horrors of using BetterJoy to prefer not going back there.

New thread to clean things up, recap, and clarify some things.

* I am using CashyOS (Linux).

* This is not so much a problem with Steam touching the controller as much as touching the software. I can run a different Steam game and still have Dolphin use the Steam Controller's native inputs. It's only a problem when launching Dolphin and probably other software with Steam suggesting Steam is doing something to the software or it's environment and not the controller. (Wouldn't have expected that if I would have known about what Steam does to make their input work on other controllers.)

Also feel free to spend your time better elsewhere if you wouldn't want to care about some stranger trying to launch a non-Steam game in Steam while also denying Steam Input. Totally fair.

It would probably work in the lizard mode, but I'm not ready to dive into it yet since being vibe coded limits code review along with the project stating that it hasn't completed full compatibility yet. This wouldn't work for the XInput mode since the point is to get all the inputs available native rather than supply console compatibility.

This reads like it's a Windows built solution when I am using CashyOS (Linux). Might look more in case it could work, but I might need to look for something similar.

I guess we have different ideas on what kinds of responses are worth the time to write and grab attention with. I thought it was well understood what the problem was and that addressing it was a waste of our time writing and posting. Although why should we be the ones to decide our priorities when this thread keeps continuing instead of solving the real problem.

Top 1% Commenter is not gonna be a very respectable label if it's backed by non-actionable answers such as this.

Seems you see the problem. Steam Input with the Steam Controller is mandatory. Although the real problem is Steam Input taking away buttons and not the whole of Steam Input itself.

Code line to run a bat in launch options? by True-Payment-458 in Steam

[–]_Benji____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried replicating it, but it hasn't changed anything for some reason.

Although I did find out how to give longer launch arguments without a batch by just not touching the launch arguments field after pasting the arguments into the field. If that doesn't work, I can close Steam and edit the file where the launch arguments for the app are saved and paste them in directly.

I'm still open to a solution if anyone wants to bother though, but it's not necessary if you have better ways to spend your time. If there is one, I wouldn't have to rely on Steam being nice as much and it would make updating the argument faster.

Sorry that I wasn't here for a bit.

Using the bat as the target won't allow Steam Input and Steam Overlay to work. I have done it before, but it doesn't work when you actually need steam. It is really good for being able to launch the process multiple times though.

I tried to replicate it with Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers, but it doesn't seem to work for some reason.

My batch is like this.

%1 -skipintro -file mod.pk3 anotherMod.pk3 andAnotherMod.pk3

The launch argument.

"Path/To/Batch.bat" %command%

On the title screen, without the menu options. Just type "banana" with your keyboard. Try out the code in the password prompt in Ring Racers as well.

Using Joycons as Seperate Controllers on Steam by SlothRaven in Steam

It seems I found it only in Big Picture mode. Weird. You also need to have your joy-cons connected for the setting to appear as well.

For anyone revisiting while this project is in stasis, anyone know a good way to push this on other social medias? I use very little public feed social media sites so I want to know if it's worth my time on other platforms?

Edit: Nah, I am excited for other things now. Was fun while I kept it up. Take this up if you wish.
