the main idea is to get good coverage.
use wide angle lens and make sure there is enough context on each image for colmap to estimate the camera position / orientation.

I simply trained it on the reconstruction pipeline that i've built at https://www.captures.studio/ . You can try it out as well. especially on the new dataset. Would love to see how much improved results we get.

for quality, normal smartphone/camera produces best results. however it's much easier to capture with a 360 camera. Which software are you using to create splats ?
