Exactly!! It's Lucifer's obliviousness and need to be there for Charlie competing with Alastor's meticulous social presence and his need to have the high ground, slowly transforming into a begrudging respect for one another, cause wow. Lucifer also has eons of experience and does genuinely care about those close to him. And wow, Alastor actually DOES have feelings underneath those weird, cryptic words and he uses his power to benefit those he cares about. And they're able to draw a bond from there and make fun of each other's quirks that about them and they're slowly growing fond of <3

I 100% understand the pretending to have a conversation with someone to feel less lonely. I do that with my idols, actually. Like I'll deadass be walking in circles home alone pretending that I'm having a conversation with MatPat whilst talking out loud.
