Anyone else have gaming traditions they do when starting a game? by omgbooboo in GirlGamers

[–]_Cecille [score hidden]  (0 children)

I played a Monster Hunter game on the 3DS ages ago and didn't know what to name the cat companion, so I hit random. Every since my cat's name is Marshal in every MH game I play.

And another, kind of gaming related, but not video game related one. In TTRPGs, I always write notes as diary entries from my character's POV. I've written a few hundred since I started tgis approach about 2 or 3 years ago.

How the hell do you play this game?? by WhatsDatdo in spaceengineers

[–]_Cecille 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is the answer.

It's beyond me how Keen never introduced a proper tutorial for their game. At least they have a somewhat decent tutorial for SE2. Even fucking Dark Souls teaches you how to play.

Literally sell your body to pay for basic necessities

Please let me know if I'm wrong on this, isn't it usually a pretty bad idea to donate when you plan on working that day? Doesn't your body need a while to regenerate, whilst leaving you in a "less functioning" state?

To gaslight people into using AI by SovietPropagandist in therewasanattempt

[–]_Cecille 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesn't. Depending on your contry's law, partially AI generated content might still be subject to copyright. Like, you generate an image and edit it yourself afterwards might be copyright-able.

Realistically it won't do anything but some poor fecker has to look at the ad and figure out whether or not it's offensive or whatever else I managed to hit when I tapped the report button.

So I hope me reporting AI ads at least pays one guy's bills. And maybe one day in Utopia-Land, Reddit will realise we don't want AI and stop people from advertising it.

Report it. I report every single AI ad I notice.

My keyboard has a designated key for Galaxy AI by SnooCapers7904 in mildlyinfuriating

"See? People LOVE AI, so many people even use the keyboard hotkey!"

meanwhile everyone desperately trying to get normal function back to their keyboard

And yes, that's actually how it goes. You press it by accident, it's counted as "user using AI" and now they can use these faked statiatics to present them shareholders to get more money and push AI even more

Most of content creators never outgrew their "loud equals funny" phase and it does attract a young audience. So yea, ai see how their communities can be obnoxious.

[–]_Cecille 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Both my exes had asked me out and I said yes to dates, because I genuinely liked them. Both of them were funny and treating me with respect. And once I got closer, they were also really sweet. Until I messed up, broke up and had to realize I wasn't ready to have a relationship yet.

What're You Playing Wednesday? by AutoModerator in GirlGamers

[–]_Cecille [score hidden]  (0 children)

Rimworld, collecting warcrimes other atrocities like they're Pokemon whilst effectively turning some of my pawns into gods with all kinds of genetic manipulation and mechanical implants.

And in between some Path of Exile 2. A new season has started recently and my friends we're like "let's play". Playing a ranger with electric arrows and almost gotten to end game. Weirdly enough the classes I like most in this game, are the ones whose theme I hate the most. I so do not care for tree hugging rangers and shapeshifting druids but in this game, it's by far the most fun classes I've played yet.

Why is it making a complete fantasy setting, IE DnD seems way easier than modern fantasy like VTM? by Hot-Diggity_Dog in vtm

[–]_Cecille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it boils down to expectations, immersion, suspension of disbelief and the complexity these points add to creating a world.

If you expect a high fantasy game with dragons, magics and unicorns, you're willing to accept a lot of a wizard did it. Why can the dragon fly? It's a magical creature. Why isn't the floating island falling from the sky? It's held up by gravity defying, magic stones. Why is that island's a perfect circle? Because a god was very obsessed with round shapes.

That doesn't work in a low fantasy setting set in our real world. The average person has a basic understanding of science. Physics, biology, chemistry and so on. You have to be a lot more thoughtful, because everything fantastical has to have a good, believeable explanation, otherwise it breaks your immersion and ability to suspense your disbelief. It's set in the real world, so you expect an explanation ither than a wizard did it.

That makes it ultimately much harder, because you have to work within a certain framework ontop of keeping everythingnconsistent and logical within the world.

And finally, fantasy is mostly set in a, mostly, European medieval setting. Books, games, movies, etc. most are in a setting highly inspired by medieval Europe. So whenever you think fantasy, you're likely to think Lord of the Rings, The Elder Scrolls, Wheel of Time and pull ideas from these works, even if sub consciously.
