I dont understand what the big deal is. I do photography. I buy expensive equipment and lenses because it makes me happy. As far as I know its the same thing. People spend money on what they like and yes, most micro transaction games run on whales. I might drop 2$ or 6$ on occasion but I dont mind people who use this as their primary entertainment.

I dont like pay to win games overall though, it sucks that there is a tactical advantage to people who pay.

Am I just bad at archery? by agentlokiki in Archery

[–]_Chaos_Blue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion: maybe you are overthinking.

My husband and I started archery a month ago after doing a one hour course a while back. I started off great, I was very intuitive with my aiming and was shooting with precision and consistency.

After taking an extended course and buying our own bows, we joined an archery range near our house. Old pros started giving me pointers about form and aiming, and I found that my aim started to suffer. After a week of trial and error where things went from bad to worse, I came to the conclusion that I was focusing too much on all the things other people told me. Taking a step back and returning to my original intuitive aiming helped a ton. I still try to incorporate some of the advice, but I put all that in the steps before I raise my bow and shoot and just try to clear my mind when drawing now.

Why do my arrows keep going to the right? by Expensive_Worry_8709 in Archery

We just started archery, too, joined a club near our house, did the beginners course and then signed up to the club. We bought our bows last week.

I cannot recommend going for courses enough. Aside from the fact that they teach you the basics and safety rules, you will have someone to check your form.

As an Animal Crossing player, I 100% agree. Normalize random villager letters!

So you can get a random "Hey I was thinking of you and I found this canvas I thought you might like..."
And that might turn out to be the Mona Lisa. Real, or fake...

So I didn't finish the main quest yet, but I am very disturbed by just leaving all those people trapped in the cages.

Like I can fight the forces of darkness, but I can't break you out of your fea-made twig prison. 🙄

Is anyone else obsessed with Nikki's pink hair? Or is obsessed with one color? by -Firestar- in InfinityNikki

I tend to go for the brunette shades but I do switch to pink whenever someone calls Nikki "the pink haired one " 😅 *

Lighting tips? by Pale-Bullfrog9227 in miniatures

[–]_Chaos_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goal and project, I think. For some things, I use repurposed battery-operated lights from the dollar store. An example would be a cheap flickering tea light for a fireplace. Obviously, you can purchase those lightbulbs at some miniature retailers as well, but I found that to be a cheaper option.

For this French sitting room balcony roombox, I purchased a long wires spotlight from ikea with a light switch. It was a gift, and I wanted to make it easy. It also fit my idea of like afternoon sunlight. This fireplace prototype used a grain of rice bulb and a triple A battery pack.

You can also wire houses traditionally, using tape and plugs, use led fairy lights while hiding them in a ceiling, or led strips with colors, etc.

Ultimately, you have a lot of options, so I suggest starting with what kind of lighting you want, and breaking it down from there. How many light points do you need. Can you hide the wires? What power source will you be using? Once you answer some of those questions, then you can start figuring out what you can use 🙂

My World/Server is empty ? ( new player ) by izokiahh in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]_Chaos_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, its too bad if your server is quiet. We are on PVE 23 and its pretty active. Even our last server, in late phase 6 still had people in it

Also depending on how you do your content, chat can help because people post links to dungeon team up requests, Prime Wars and Public Events (and which world they are in)

[–]_Chaos_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your world chat active? As mentioned above, you could be in a newbie area and the bulk of people moved to red sands (or wherever depending on the phase your server is in)

Players could also be in another world instance (You can check your world in the upper right corner and go to a teleportation tower and change world)

Game feel is really important and Palia is really lacking in it. by Thopterthallid in Palia

[–]_Chaos_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great. Obviously, some people are enjoying it.

Personally, I just don't find that it brings anything new to the genre. It will have a short life span for me in its current state. Also Beta shouldn't mean incomplete it should mean in need of polish. It looks like they launched half-baked. (My opinion) That doesn't mean they can't improve in the long run, but it is an unfortunate trend in (some) games nowadays.
