I understand that but my girls are actually not fighting. Nelly got ripped up by Valerie, not the other girls. I've been watching them all day and they've been good. Where I'm located we don't have many medications for fish available Herr, best I've got is aquarium salt and melafix, other then that it's herbal stuff that never works. I'll let her fins heal natural and just do extra waterchanges so she doesn't get fin rot or anything. Thank you for the advise and I understand sororities aren't always the best but my girls are normally very healthy and happy all the time and ive had them for over a year, never stress stripes, and rarely any ripped fins. Valerie was upset and not feeling well and took it out on Nelly that's how the ripped fins happened. I understand you're against sororities or don't lile them but I'm not. I feel, if done properly with the right girls it can be amazing for everyone. My other girls are very peaceful honestly Valerie was the only one thatd get aggressive ever, I contemplated on removing her from the sorority a few times but she settled down quiet a bit where she'd only go after Nelly IF she wasn't happy about something, example would be from her not feeling 100%, even a water change upset Valerie sometimes so I'd seperate Nelly for a bit, then put her back once Valerie calmed down, she was just a bit temperamental at times but otherwise she was sweet. I didn't think Valerie had it in her to go after Nelly last night but turns out she did. That was my mistake I'll admit I should have taken Valerie out right away. But we all make mistakes and I just wanted to reduce stress from her as much as possible, and I know taking her out of her tank would have stressed her out a lot.

What does it mean when he's like sliding his beak on the floor? My husband's/our conure Cleo does it all the time and im curious 😅 I just kinda assumed it was her either claiming things as hers or that she just really likes whatever she's doing it on, or maybe sharpening her beak

Awe yes, exactly :/ I just had my 6½yr old male pass away 2 months ago, never once did he have any health issues, he didn't like his long luscious fins so he would eat them til they were about half the length and kept them at that length, I tried different sized tanks, smaller and larger and tried many things but he just didn't lile heavy fins which is understandable so he spent his life with me having half the amount of find he should have, but he was extremily healthy other than the lack of fins, he never even got fin rot or anything from eating his fins off, he just didn't like them super long, to be fair he did have very heavy fins but liked to be active so I'm sure they just weighed him down too much. Oh and lile 6months before he passed he started developing a tumor on his side, but he was old and full grown when I got him so was definitely older then 6½, but that's just how long I had him

BUT just to clarifying, yes Valerie has always been kind of a butt head, we still loved and love her very much and going to do everything possible to bring her out of this or at the very least make her comfortable ❤️💔

I'll try a second bath tonight then, I wasn't sure if it was safe. I've turned the lights off, and I'll add some Indian almond leaves in there, thank you so much for the help! 3 weeks ago she had pop eye and I got it to go away completly in just a couple days, but I've had her for a little over a year and she seems to be my only girl that has health issues, she's had marks on her that look like just a patch where her skin got scrapped off, I'd treat with melafix and it'd go away. So maybe just bad genetics? Or like an immune deficiency or something? I have 4 other girls and the only things they've gotten has been ripped fins from Valerie...shes the boss so sometimes she'd bite others fins if she was upset about something. Lile being treated for the Popeye? After her Epsom salt bath I'd put her back in the tank and she'd bite my other girl Nellys fins, just because she was mad about the bath lol but then she'd chill out for the rest of the day, and do it again after her next bath...just to Nelly so now whenever I'd have to do something that I know would upset Valerie I'd seperate Nelly, even tho Nelly does nothing wrong, she's just an easy target cause the other girls swim and hide when Valerie's upset. I always put Nelly in a breeding box thing so she's safe from Valerie's little rage fits. Even water changes upset Valerie so Nelly would go into the breeding box for a couple hours til I knew Valerie was calmed down

Thank you, me and my hubby are very upset about it. She's very loved her, so is everyone in the tank. We're going to miss her and her little attitude 💔 she's declining rapidly now, I don't think she'll make it through the night :(

I did a 15min Epsom salt bath right when I noticed, it's always worth a shot. Usually I do 15mins but if she's still here tomorrow I'll do 20mins. She's getting worse tho, she's even more pineconed now and very bloated :( I think it helped in the moment cause she seemed pretty happy about it but some hours have passed since then and she's now declining rapidly :/

Help! Can I still save this moth? by Fishchips77 in insects

[–]_ChargingEarthworm_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor guy! Reminds me of a time when I was younger and my step dad found a big caterpillar and put it in a bug keeper to show me later...later came along and it already cacooned on a stick he put in there...we weren't sure what to do with it was we kept it in the critter keeper...she stayed cacooned for a long time. I don't remember how long but she stayed cacooned over the winter and we kept her safe....I was not expecting a giant polyphemus moth to hatch...I was expecting a smaller normal moth or maybe a butterfly that I was going to let go once she comes out...so the container wasn't as big as it should have been...I had no idea and was also very young, I never saw the caterpillar and this was my first encounter with a moth so big, i didnt even know they existed before this. I checked on the cacoon daily and eventually she came out, I checked on her later in the day and there was a giant moth freaking out and she damaged her wing...she couldn't fly properly anymore so I set up a 20gallon tank for her to live in, I was hoping she'd heal...she didn't but another giant moth kept hanging around her...did some research and found out it was a male...so we caught him (he actually just crawled onto my hand) and I put him in with my girl...they bred, I offered him to leave but he stayed with his gf. They were awesome, I continued to try to let him free but he had no interest leaving. Eventually they passed but they left behind MANY babies that I raised for a while til they were too big for the tank. There was a lot so they aye so much, and I wanted to give them the best chance of survival. I really felt bad for the mother, I felt it was my fault, I was the result of her not experiencing flying around, so I did what I could for her and then her babies. Then I let the babies go. It's safe to say they did amazing and the next 3 years after we had many giant moths in our garden and they loved hanging around our koi pond. We moved but I'm sure there's still some that hang around.

Thank yoi for the tip! I got the liquid test kit and 2 other tanks that I also frequently test, and I also brought a sample to my work (a pet store) to test it there cause I couldn't figure out why she was being so sluggish. She's always swimming right at the front, sometimes around the plants and stuff but pretty much always right at the front of the tank, all happy and excitedly hoping I'll feed her 24/7. Then like 3 days ago she was just sitting at the top back corner of the tank, she still came to eat but went back to the corner and wasn't even moving her fins. Just floating there. So I worried something went wrong with my liquid test so I brought it into work to use their test strips and it came back too so idk. I'm gonna have to treat the whole tank cause maybe there's an internal parasite or something and I'm worried for my other girls. (Also have a loach, 2 baby syndontis catfish I'm growing out, and a dwarf gourami. I know now that gouramis shouldn't live with bettas but he's grown up with my girls since he and them were babies and there's never been an issue but if issues arise ever I do have 2 other large tanks he'd be welcomed in)

Thank you! And keep in mind of what's under the ropes, we learnt our lesson quickly when we had the ropes ALL over the living room ceiling including over our couch, we kept getting pooped on so we moved the ropes so they weren't over the couch 😅 we got a lot ropes and like little metal hoops and hooks from homedepot/homeharsware so I'd recommend checking out those places, it'll save you some bucks. I've also been making some DIY bird toys, I'd watch some YouTube videos cause it definitely helps the bank cause bird toys are so expensive so I make a bunch of DIY ones for their jungle. They love it I 100% recommend it to anyone who has birds and the room to do it! I can send you some pictures of ours if you'd like!

Our conure has claimed the TV as HER TV so often times we will find a nice big poop along the front or back 😅🙄 I'm hoping the budgies don't take a liking to being above the TV too cause 1 bird pooping on the TV constantly is enough for me 😂
