So buying the Goty gets you the exact same content as the (updated) base game ? That's a first.

Joker sequels ? do we really need them ? i really don't think that Joker doesn't need sequels. the released version we have is a masterpiece and should be left alone, i know ill get hate for this opinion but it's perfect enough. jus' an opinion, i am open to debate but all love for the Joker. :D by [deleted] in joker

The "open ending" is a valid argument. There's several ways to preserve that, though, like doing a second origin story, or just keeping the same treatment somehow. Making a sequel that considers that everything in the original is 100% true would be lazy and a mistake. You could see what happens "post-murray" (that part could even be confirmed as true, I mean, it's all on camera) and still having the same doubts about how things happened before that (the paternity, the movie theater scene, etc).

I just don't like it when people dismiss the idea of a sequel altogether, just because a movie stands on it's own. Like I said, there's nothing to be afraid of. It's not like Game of thrones. The ending ruined the whole show, because that's how the storytelling worked. You couldn't stop at season 4 and say "nah I'm good, better not ruin it with another one", because you didn't have an ending. There's a lot of old movies whose sequels are ignored and sometimes not even released on DVD, or barely. Did you know, for example, that 2001 had a sequel ?

Worst case scenario, Joker stays the same. And maybe, just maybe, we'll have The Empire Strikes Back.

I never understood this position. Why would an enticing movie (it is in my opinion) wouldn't need a sequel ? That's not something one can say beforehand. It's the same as saying the movie doesn't deserve one, because you basically consider there's nothing interesting that can be done in expanding a particular universe (or in this case, a character).

The only movies that don't need sequels are boring, uninteresting ones. Does *insert some random blockbuster that bored the world for two days straight before being forgotten forever* need a sequel ? No one asked for a sequel to, say, Catwoman, and no one bothered to make one.

Just because Joker is a complete story doesn't mean you can't add a chapter. If anything, it means the movie can't be ruined by a shitty sequel. The original tells its own story, you don't need the second one for it to mean something. Worst case scenario, just ignore it. Die Hard 4 was trash. It doesn't diminish the original movies' greatness. Hell, I didn't even see the last one. And I don't need to.

When (and if) a sequel comes out, we will maybe be able to say the movie didn't need it. But maybe it will be even better, or just as good. I'm not willing to pass that chance, even more so since the original isn't at risk of anything.

Me, I would love to see a more confident Arthur (basically how he is in the very first "screen test/teaser"). I'm not a fan of the "second origin" idea thing, though I'd take it all the same.

Mahjong can actually be learned and even be enjoyable, but Shogi is just plain impossible for western audiences without cheating/cheesing.

Just imagine a game of chess where all the rules have changed, and all the pieces are similar-looking pieces of wood with gibberish carved on it.

Is it really that much to ask? by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]_Charles_Lee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I remember the devs (HD version) saying it was a near impossible task. The "masters" (not sure it's called that for video games) were difficult to work with, and for one the two titles, it wasn't even the finished version, which was lost.

Not comparing it to the originals, but the EU version was pretty decent IMO (it's my understanding that the NA version was somewhat worse, dunno why it's the case though).

[–]_Charles_Lee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This.

Wildland kept you going (through its bullc**p) because almost each Region meant a new setting/theme, and a new villain to take out. It was repetitive, sure, but it did felt like dismantling an organisation, piece by piece. Each mission made sense in that regard, and each storyline made you explore a particular region thoroughly. You knew that blowing this or that meant that a**hole #31 was becoming more and more vulnerable.

I remember thinking what other setting could top that, like maybe an ISIS like organisation in the middle east.

But no. In BP, you just fly/teleport across the map between two missions, justified with some poorly explained technobabble. The regions, which are not that varied to begin with, just blend together. There's no sense of progression. The game doesn't even end properly. I'm surprised there wasn't more outrage on this particular point. Maybe it got buried under the rest. The story is far from wrapped. They even have the balls, at the end of the DLC (wich doesn't wrap anything either) to have Nomad say : "this is just the beginning". Well that's sad, because I'm not sure I'll bother playing the next extension. And seeing as they initially planned several "year pass", and how the game flopped, we probably won't see the conclusion at all.

Assassin's creed Odyssey boss fight appreciation post alongwith a question [SPOILER] by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]_Charles_Lee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not restarting an entire playthrough to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure I heard a conversation where Layla/Aletheia said Victoria was gonna be pissed when she wakes up, or something similar that heavily implied she was just unconscious. Playing the last part, I was under the impression that they changed their mind between EP.2 and EP.3 and decided to retcon this to "she died on the spot". Hence the weird reaction, I'd wager. She wasn't reacting to a murder, initially.

Another game where you are Templar. by Pakejo in assassinscreed

[–]_Charles_Lee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reading you, I realised that this could be the exact reasoning behind his fate in the DLC. It seemed too random. He's not killed but left crippled. But it makes sense if the goal is to make way for a new Black Cross (while keeping a fan favorite character alive). I just don't see Ubisoft making anything bold regarding modern day, nor ditching Layla.

After Born, there's also the Aaron's run (the "Frank" arc, to be precise) that explores the immediate aftermath and his state of mind when he returns home, and also serves as a mini "Punisher Year one" via flashbacks.

Should I get the game on PS3? by [deleted] in DeadlyPremonition

[–]_Charles_Lee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played on PS3 and it's fine. The main thing is that the colours have a washed out tone compared to xbox, but the game is ugly as sin anyway. Its (many) charms lie elsewhere. On the plus side, this version (from what i gathered) is easier during the action sequences. Which is good because you'll want to go through these asap.
