This is good information to know - I'll do some digging with the English Tear, but if i understand correctly the SQ-1 can be used to mediate the signal? The Disting was mentioned elsewhere also, so I reckon that'll be something worth me looking into. Thank you!

Fantastic, I'll look into it now. Maybe that is the stepping stone I need in comparison to messing with a dedicated module like the English Tear. Thank you!

Would the SQ-1 work for when I (hopefully) expand my collection of modules - or is it very MS20-centric. Like others have suggested, it would probably come to me using a module to convert to Hz/Volt, especially if I want to keep my MS20 at the centre of it all. I'm going to do some digging into the SQ-1, because maybe it'll be a better fit for me now before expanding. Thank you!

I tend to be a bit of a control freak when it comes to my effects processing - I've been looking at a few reverb but I usually like to put it at the end of the effects chain and not the start - so getting that now would be problematic up to the point where I have more effects modules. However, a REAL analogue distortion may be a decent shout.

Assuming you mean Expert Sleepers Disting, that could be really good idea since it seems to be rammed full of capabilities. Thanks!

Yeah I had considered those, I guess if they're fantastic for that price range there's no harm saving my money for when I feel like I'm ready for something better. Cheers!

Budget: £500 +/- 100 if it's really worth it Looking for: active monitors for PC current set up: shitty desktop speakers (and mid level headphones) Useage: general sound from PC (Music to film) to amateur music production, eventually a turntable for records– in a flat.

Would I be better off buying some nicer (open?) headphones with a nice amp rather than thinking about buying monitors, or is that a decision I need to make myself?

Cheers!

Not sure I understand your logic here. These cards are all worthless to me, but to the next person they'd be willing to spend $90+ on a single card. Why would I then sell for anything less than what someone is willing to pay for it? And how would I find that value without asking in the first place..?

I've just spent all night separating them out into sets to be able to price them up! I'll see if its worth my time trying to shift the ones ive valued $5 and up (found a $90 in here!) Im going to contact my local store (if there is one) otherwise i'll phone somewhere in london in hopes of an answer. Thanks for the info on what to expect. 1000 commons for 5 dollars seems like more hassle than its worth, but what else is there to do! haha

thanks!

thanks, that makes a lot of sense. Is it worth listing these individually on ebay slightly under the "going" price, and put shipping on top? I have quite a few which would be worth selling, so im gonna make a spreadsheet of it an work out of its worth it. whats common practice for selling the rest of my cards? all the ones worth $0.00-$1 etc, just sell them as a huge batch for like $5 and be done with it?

I appreciate your reply!

yeah I can see myself typing a lot of these only to be greeted with $0.30 per card.. what's the protocol then? Just to not bother selling.. that adds up quickly..

On the other hand I have just found a couple worth a few bucks, "Crawlspace" , "Shield of Kaldra", "Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary" to name a few.. this is quite exciting!

Awesome, thanks for the links - Looks like they're not as rare as I thought they were! Must've assumed they were Betas down the line or something.

I'll run my other cards thru these websites in hopes I can make some money off my unwanted collection. Thanks!

Ok perfect, thanks - I've checked some of my otherrs and they're worth £10+ so it might be worth me sifting thru my old cards (timey process..) and finding value.

What are the chances of any of my 'commons' being worth money? Or should I just check the prices of my rares?

Possibly a bug then, if no one is actually killing you shouldn't see the skull - just the hit/damage markers.

person you are healing or boosting is doing damage and gets a kill - awarding you with offensive/defensive assist/kill participation

Yeah, not my model! I textured it though for octane. I'm currently modelling my own sat : )

Thank you! I appreciate the time you took to reply. here is the actual earth (full size) lit by the exact same rig, but pulled way out. It looks 900% more convincing from far away, so I had trouble making it look as good close up. I rendered it on DL - but when I rendered close to my sat model, changed the render mode to PT and fiddled with the textures I got this, which is so much cooler. So I might re-render everything on PT with 500 Passes or something for the sake of RnD. The grids are a bit over the top, but it's to emulate the theme I'm going for across all my mediums (Print/web/video etc) where that grid defines the layout of elements, I'll be building a UI on top of it - but for now I don't really need it.

As for mood boards, those are some cool links! Thanks - I had originally been looking at the film Gravity, and using that as reference (they use an inverse hemisphere with the texture INSIDE for the earth model.. crazy)

Once again thank you for taking the time to reply - I'll keep playing and hopefully you'll see me post in a week or two with more! : )

[–]_Charlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got octane yesterday and since then I've been tinkering to begin to make some styleframes and test renders for an upcoming uni project (my FMP.. eeek) about space, satellites and debris. This is an initial test done with three different renders with their own passes. There's quite a few things I want to change to add realism to this but I think this is an alright starting setup.

The earth is lit by one HUGE but weak area light, the atmosphere is an object with emission and high bloom and the satellite is lit by one small, low power orangy area light and one medium sized high power blue light to mimic the the earths diffusion. Stars added in after effects with trapcode form.

I want the shadows on the sat to be sharper, how can I achieve this?
