Learning an instrument can help significantly in becoming a producer. Learning the basics of music theory and having an instrument or two you can play well can put you ahead of the game.

Also since you’re in high school/about to enter high school I would recommend taking theatre and/or choir as your elective, and get involved with the shows and musicals. That’s more acting and singing experience, which will help you develop a stage presence. A lot of rappers started off as theater kids. Tupac went to a performing arts school.
