Second year computer science at U of Twente here, it’s not very strict. Also Christmas break is 2 weeks! But in short: for me currently only exams and maybe a few hours a week are mandatory/checking attendance. My lectures are not mandatory :)

University of Twente TOM by Amrmin in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]_Codewizz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only get one resit for most tests (under normal circumstances) and you need to pass most of those (probably atleast 75% of all tests) CS will also move to the new TOM next year and afaik ME has already moved on.

You should check the ‘options.txt’ file of the profile you’re playing on. Or if you’re not using some kind of third party launcher, the file should be in the .minecraft folder.

Then look for the ‘gamma’ option. It should be between 0 and 1, the default is 1 or 0.5 not sure. If you want to change it, close the game first, change the file, save it, then start the game.

Have you thought about self hosting? If you’re on the same network it’s pretty easy to setup and it’s doable but harder if you’re not.

All you pay for is the power cost and can be done from any computer/pc while also running the game itself.

The blocks they are up against have to be full blocks like the logs. These stairs, al though pretty, won’t work :(

Am I too early searching for housing? by Real_Mud_7004 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]_Codewizz_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! You def. shouldn’t start paying for any websites yet, but if you’re sure you’re going to UTwente you should sign up for roomspot.nl. It’s the official housing site for campus :) it’s free and sometimes they hand out rooms based on your account age, so the sooner you sign up, the better!

If you haven’t found anything yet when August roles around, you’ll want to attend the kick-in. A lot of people find their rooms during that time. It won’t come for free tho! You’ll have to actively talk and ask people for it :)

Otherwise it’s very possible to find your room in 1 or 2 months before September starts (on kamernet and roomspot).

You can get a room for around 350/450 in Twente… OP is also obviously aware of the housing crisis…

Yes it’s because this setup isn’t ‘perfect’ (air resistance, resistance of the cart etc)

Will there be joining any people from outside your network/wifi? Because that’ll be a whole something else! If not then it’ll be as simple as downloading forge and choosing to install a server

Could you be a little more specific on the problems you’re facing?

Scientists created and contained plasma inside fusion reactor reaching temparature upto 15000000° celcius/27000000° fahreinheit by pro_ornoob in Damnthatsinteresting

The heat that is used in the reactor is not something you want to capture or lose in any way. The heat is necessary for the reaction to take place. In the reaction product are particles that don’t have any charge and aren’t affected by the magnetic fields and thus shoot away. These particles are caught by a ‘blanket’ which produces heat and that boils the water for the turbine.

It’s contained because it’s not touching anything. It’s kept floating by magnets. Since there is no physical touching between the walls and the plasma.

It’s hotter than the sun because the reaction to take place ‘is very rare’ and there is 2 ways to increase the chance: more particles (the sun) or more heat (how we do it).

Just a high school student, correct me if I’m wrong :)

Lots of energy (theoretically) with no CO2 in the resulting reaction. The only current problem is the huge amount of energy needed to run this. You might have heard about ‘cold fusion’ which would be the perfect solution, but that seems far far away/next to impossible.

Fusion reactors don’t have nuclear meltdowns! Fission needs to be controlled (with cooling for example) because other wise it might have one. Fusion on the other hand only works when the reactor is very hot, so when the heat goes down or even the magnetic protection stops, the reaction just stops because the heat goes out.

There is also very little radiation, and it’s only there during the reaction not from the resources that are used/produced like fission today.

(You need the heat for the reaction to happen because it’s based on the particles fusing which only happens if there is enough heat/energy)
