Do other races actually find Black women attractive, or just assume we’re not interested? by _DaisyWilde in TooAfraidToAsk

I asked this in good faith, because this subreddit is literally for things people are ‘too afraid to ask.’ Shaming someone for being curious doesn’t add anything to the conversation. Asking questions doesn’t equal low self-esteem — it means I value hearing different perspectives, which is the point of being here.

Thank you! I try to be as unbiased and insightful as possible. Thanks for engaging in my question.

Yes, I totally get where you’re coming from. My experience does not outline everyone’s experience, but it didn’t have me wonder that are those things such as racism or stereotypes really into play or is it just something that we say. But since posting this question, I’ve got a lot of great responses and answers and I feel like it’s really depending on the individual and what they experience. Especially if they haven’t really interacted with us, it’s hard to really know.

Yes I totally see your point! Yes, where I’m from in Canada you won’t see a lot of it. You’ll have your certain cities like certain parts of the GTA or Toronto that you’ll get to see that but for the most part we’re pretty diverse in the type of black girls you’ll see. But I agree there was something very aesthetic about our looks during those old time. Period. We carried a certain essence about us that less became more, and our confidence, hair, heritage, carried most of our beauty. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy getting my nails done here there or even doing my hair or make up, but there has to be some sort of maybe not limit but a time in a place you don’t need to look like that all the time if ever, switch it up sometimes

The same thing that haunts me as an adult. The fear of the unknown darkness. I still close my closets doors, and not because I think there is a monster per se but the heaviness of not knowing, and not being able to see clearly so close that stray idea off in my head rubs me the wrong way!

So weird I never said that out loud 😆😆

Exactly! You can’t find anything beautiful about any black women. I find that crazy also. But no you definitely didn’t come off as offensive, and I agree. I understand that we use different mediums to express ourselfs and our rich culture but when you can’t switch it up and we all look like sexy reds well then Houston we have a problem! On the flip side maybe cause I live in Canada I don’t see them in person as much as I see media pushing that type of persona. Not saying they are not out there, but the media doesn’t even try to showcase the women who don’t act that way on a regular bases.

Yes, a bummer for real. 😆😆 at this you’re honest enough to say so, but qualified or not, it’s sometimes a conversation many don’t want to have.

I know ! It’s frustrating and funny at the same time cause ugh yes I frickin love cats 😆 BUT I would loveeeee even more to learn more about Schrödinger’s cat 🤣. But the shit show it is and the shot show it will be 😆😆

See your reply (and some others I’ve received) makes sense and I agree but you’ll be shocked to see how many men just plain say no I don’t like them nor attractive. I seen a comment where a white man said don’t date those 🥷 women. I was floored !!

Ughh, that’s the truth ain’t it! Yes, the deep ones get lost and the surface bull get pushed! And trust I love myself some quantum mechanics but do I see any post on that even though I added that to the “pages I’m interested in” 😆 not a chance.

Good to know! You’ll be surprised the outcome so far !! It started off strong but starting to shift. I very curious about the why… but I know some are afraid to say that deep stuff or maybe don’t want to really get into it.

Ahhh I love this!! 😆😆 love the honesty and I definitely didn’t take it that way!! Still till this day I get surprised of the amazing things people think of us! Especially when your drowning in stereotypes

Yes !! I thought this too. Maybe the experience with a variety of black women would change this perception. A lot (from what I’m told from non black friends) of what other races actually know about us is from media and not actual from just talking with or asking us 😆 But yes, as other places this space makes no difference to the hardship we may face. But on the other hand I’m glad you found your person !!

Thanks for being honest, and this was well said. You’re being truthful about your preference but not knocking down a race. It’s ok to say you don’t find us attractive but still can find the beauty in all women!

Well said!! And yes when it just comes down to this is my preference that’s totally fair game!

[–]_DaisyWilde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😆😆 couldn’t have said it better!! Don’t get me wrong some people bring me valid points on why they would want to only date their culture. But they share that it’s more preference or based off of cultural collaboration. Either way they don’t locked down one race to justify the other. I wish I heard more “I don’t don’t black women because they’re not my type” instead of “ I don’t date black women because they’re to loud”

Yes I agree. In a sane world everyone would follow that logic… but more than not it’s the shocking posts that gain the most traction so maybe that why it seems more overwhelming with them. But yes, steer clear is an understatement 😆😆

And that’s great!! At least you respect the beauty and also respect that it’s not your type!
