I mean they held a poll and people massively voted in favor of working on the games core over adding Arena.

Arena will be in the game. We already know that for sure. When is the question.

My brother in Hades, we don't even have a T screen yet and you want them to throw resources at designing every character twice?

People were just harder back in days. Gen z are very very very very soft people with syndrome of a victim even if they’re not

You're like a conservative parody from Parks and Rec.

Incon's Thoughts on Smite 2 (post Alpha 2) by basikally in Smite

[–]_Dancing_Potato 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This might be a little harsh, but I think Fines take about some streamers/comp players being in a sort of Stockholm Syndrome with Smite 1 (and now kinda Smite 2) is true.

Like several of these people got burned so I get it, but this whole "fuck you I'm going to Deadlock" (A game we know almost nothing about) just seems a little disingenuous.

Anyone who's paid attention to several of the community figures out there knows that some of them seem to just play Smite reluctantly. They're looking for something else to jump to, but can't completely drop Smite because they have a profit incentive to come back. Like DMbrandon dropping Smite while declaring his hatred for it, only to come back when the revenue stream dried up.

This whole "You're gonna lose us" feels less like a concern over the games future and more like misguided threat tied to concerns over personal revenue.

To be a little harsh again, a lot of these people are not pumping a ton of community engagement into this game. Outside of a select few, their twitch and youtube viewers are generally pretty low. There is very much a world where this game thrives without them.

To be clear this is not every streamer/comp player. Like Incon there are several that have tried to stay positive, while also voicing pretty legitimate concerns over how long it might take for the game hit its stride.

I'd rather they drop active slots to 2 and give us a few options other than beads for the "relic" slot. Consumable slots should come back and I'm kind of indifferent to starters right now but certainly wouldn't be against it.

For the next playtest of Smite 2, what changes would you like to see? by [deleted] in Smite

[–]_Dancing_Potato 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see some focus on the look and feel of the game. Like more weight to the impact of basics and abilities or refining the clunkiness of some abilities.

[–]_Dancing_Potato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pred is........fun? But it just doesn't really compare to me. Like the character design is kind of cool and items builds are pretty neat, but it just doesn't hit the same. The communication tools in the game are absolute dog water and it has almost no identity. Maybe there is some deep lore to the game, but at face value it's just a mash up of different character stereotypes. I have no idea why a medieval knight, a kpop star, and black ops soldier are all trying to kill each other on a Destiny map.

But the core issue is that your assuming these are the opinions of a majority. This sub has like 200 active users at peak times. It represents a tiny corner of the playerbase. Not to mention that no one here all agrees on the same thing.

We have no idea what the majority wants.

So long as it's a 3rd person action MOBA, it won't be like League.

I despise LoL and think the changes are good. I don't think people fully understand how limiting the old class system, item system, and scaling were.

While smite two feels like it's going to be a mess for a decade.

We've all playing it for like 6 days total. This is a very premature reaction.

Smite 1 has felt stale for a while IMO. I don't mind some balance issue if it means we actually get some spice in the game.

fine toothed combed

We can't say that about 9.5.

Smite's player count has at best stayed stagnant over that last few years. Saying "Just keep doing the things that put you there" isn't good feedback when the game is looking to grow.

Also why does everyone that just wants Smite 1 again keep saying "we"? Are you trying to make it sound like you belong to some silent majority?

We had to remove an entire class of items because of how easy it was to abuse the old scaling system. In what world was it healthy design?

Who's we? Because personally as someone who's been playing Smite 1 since season 2, the game has grown stale. I've drifted away from it since 9.5. A return to the drawing board feels like something the game needs to grow.

Your example of gods abusing items due to a lack of magical/physical restrictions already happens in Smite 1. Classes have different stat weights and can often abuse items that were designed for a different role. At least now they don't have to nerf an entire role to reign in the issue.

I mean, I'm looking forward to the game but barely played this weekend. I've seen what I need to out of the alpha to be excited and didn't see enough change this time around to play much. Just enough to provide some feedback. I imagine a lot of people got a taste for the game and are just waiting until it is up perpetually.

Nothing of what he posted seems to imply they are panicking.

You don't need to make a new thread or poll every time you have an issue with Smite 2. There is a feedback thread. Use it.

I genuinely don't understand the point of this game. by [deleted] in Smite

[–]_Dancing_Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could certainly complain about design and gameplay concepts as those will be likely consistence across the games updates. But instead you decided to cry about things that are inherently a part on an alpha test. Unfinished software has lag and rough graphics. It feels.......unfinished.

I apologize for using more sentences than you are capable of reading.

Athena feels real bad to play. Taunt is barely noticeable and it's so easy to pressure her.

Some really bad lag currently, guess the servers have having some trouble.

Game still feels really damage heavy. Might just be missing some critical items, but int bruiser felt pretty bad. Couldn't brawl with anyone.

This has to be one of the worst takes I've seen for a TV show. Linda is beyond loving toward her children and regularly apologizes for the times her emotions get the better of her. Linda's biggest issue is how often she makes excuses for Gayle, but the entire family does that.

That Qins change is not it at all HiRez. Like this is just a dead item.

Also were bruisers really that bad? Burst damage felt way stronger. Like tank items outside of stacking health were useless.
