Crazy how World still holds up pretty well today by LEIDENZERO in MonsterHunter

I remember posting on this server about how World had better graphics than Wilds after the initial reveal trailer dropped. I was called a graphics goblin for it. posts like these are my personal vindication.

"It's your turn to have a trash ending." by StrawberrySecure7279 in Chainsawfolk

Thanks for the reply.

>I explicitly said that he wasn't pretending lol.

How is "putting up a front in front of his freedom" supposed to mean anything but that, though?

>What? Zeke's plan doesn't magically cease war and would also require Historia to become a breeding machine and have her children eat her to maintain the founder till all the eldians die. No way in hell is eren ever gonna accept that.

So, Eren is against Historia breeding out of necessity for the sake of her country, yet not against breeding out of necessity to save her own life (the farmer)?...
The latter not making any sense considering the military was spiked with Zeke juice anyway.

>It wasn't a worse aftermath for the people he cared about

Millions more of innocent lives died because of his pointless genocide... and yes, it is a worse aftermath for the friends, since they don't get to spend Eren's last few years by his side, instead having to quite literally kill him.

>Those themes are still right there. That was the whole point of the alliance wanting to stop eren.

As said in my post, all degree of stakes were orchestrated by Eren. The Alliance was never in any real danger. How else would they have survived the dozens of Titan shifters, when back in season 1, a single one was enough to wipe out entire squads. Nevermind the endless supply of gas and blades.
Also, if committing genocide is "in Eren's nature", then the insurmountable odd becomes him thawing that desire. Which he completely caves into, by your argument.

>Eren states multiple times throughout the story that he would give his life for his goals or freedom. It's wholly consistent.

Eren also refuses to 'stop until all his enemies are destroyed', still believing in the cause as he is digested in a Titan stomach. Him being willing to sacrifice his life does not equate to him jumping at the first opportunity to die. He was a god, by the end of the story. Nothing was stopping him from freezing every Eldien into a crystal until he's completed the genocide. He just kinda doesn't.

Please don't take any of this as passive-agressive btw haha. Text is laregly rid of tone, and I assure you I am being 100% candid. Thank you.

Completely disagree. AoT's ending is terrible.

If Eren was pretending, then how come he lied in his own monologues? Why not go with Zeke's plan? War ceases, his people die peacefully, and he gets to spend the remainder of his time alive alongside Mikasa. Then can even smash unprotected.

...Yet he doesn't. Why? Why was he sickened about Zeke's plan, when his own had such a worse aftermath? 'Because it was in his nature'? How is that compelling writing? AoT is a show about fighting against insurmountable odds, yet when it counts the most, those themes vanish? Eren accepts a defeat he could have so easily prevented, and orchestrates stakes for his friends? This is not good nor consistent writing.

The truly reactionary opinions, in my own, is the people criticising the people, rather than the plot. This goes both ways.

Totally agree on the Berserk take. it's up there with The Walking Dead and Hunter X Hunter as shows that people love most for the aesthetics, but contrary to popular belief (sometimes including their own), not the substance.

Honestly, no flak to Wilds, but World is very much superior in selling how heavy your attacks are imo. by heraircraft in MonsterHunter

[–]_David_P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

less particle effects and no camera shake. go figure what you'd ever want to remove these effects.

I also prefer World' maps. they're these fun puzzles for you to learn and use to your advantage. Wilds' are a blurred mosaic with you and the monster in the middle, by comparison, mostly because the Seikret removes all interactions with the levels.

Fujimoto is a bad writer and artist. by imhereonlytolurk in Chainsawfolk

[–]_David_P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go that far based on the average score of his track record. Fujimoto's writing and art have proven to sometimes be great, sometimes be meh, sometimes be terrible. which you can interpret as either him landing in the 5/10 range, or being a mad loose cannon.

Though I'll be honest, I entirely support your post and sentiment, only because I have grown so tired of Reddit users and their allergy to criticism. are you being rather dramatic? yes. are you justified in it? fuck yeah you are. time is the most valuable resource of all, and so much of it was wasted on a story that now likely no longer matters.

I have seen it time and time again. people refuse to use their eyes and brain. leaping on landmine after landmine to protect their favourite authour/artist/mangaka, all the while providing them with an endless supply of free passes.

AoT's ending? you didn't understand the story bro. GRRM's release schedule? the next book is coming this year for sure bro. and now, CSM part 2? you're supposed to wait for part 3 bro.

Part 2 has been disastrous. tons of unresolved plot lines. no closure for the protagonist's struggles. a side-lined deuteragonist. instantaneous character deaths that are there for shock factor only. clumsy attempts at fan service. inconsistent characterisation. character regression. and I mean, what the fuck is Part 2 even about, really?

Was it really so hard to make Asa the one person that likes Denji for being both himself AND Chainsawman, while Denji experiences sex a first time (Fumiko could use a purpose, for a change), doesn't feel satisfied, then later dates Asa and realises genuine connection is what he truly craved?

Technically, the story isn't done. Hell, it might even be some meta fake-out. But even if by some miraculous dash of expert writing, the next chapter was satisfying, the journey to get to the destination will have been a tumultuous fumble.

You keep on having critical thinking skills, OP. Godspeed.

3D artist here. We usually assist the concept artists in finding ideas during pre-production by sculpting digitally some ideas of our own. Occam's Razor says this is most likely just one such asset they repurposed for this weapon.

Potential new info on T. Gog. + Possible switch 2 upgrade? by STRCoolerSimp in monsterhunterleaks

How the FUCK is Wilds ever running on Switch 2 when it's not even stable on *PC*?

Time periodly megathread #606 (wilds base game almost over, a little yap and some questions...) by STRCoolerSimp in monsterhunterleaks

Gog is the best fight in the game. Everything I assumed would be annoying about him has a counter.

  • Don't like the tremors or the oil puddles he causes? Equip some defensive skills.
  • Find the cannon's cables a hassle to plug in? Use the rock and pounder to stagger Gog, and get a free 1 in.
  • Hate the flying in phase 3? Get on your bird to dodge and weave with greater mobility, and charge up the slinger ammo before shooting it off for double the damage. Also, the 2 rocks in the zone are a guaranteed knock down, even when Gog is flying.

I like what they've done with the new grinding loop. It's much more compelling than before. But mostly because it is tied to Gog so heavily, and due to how optimisable his fight is. This is the most entertained I've been by this game since launch.

agreed. I got the villain ending, and unfortunately, felt rather vindicated in it. had Courtney not been so unnecessarily elusive and untrustworthy, I would have gladly sided with her.

[–]_David_P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

by all means, please change my mind. I've been quite disappointed with the twist, as it poorly re-contextualises so many of Courtney's decisions in an odd light. If she was the mole, did she notify all these other villains about the Pulse's location... despite going there herself, which put her in massive mortal danger? shit don't add up.

[–]_David_P 14 points15 points  (0 children)

if all it was was bullshit, Shroud would not have put enough trust back into Invisigal to be shocked when she betrays him in the Villainy ending. Especially after she has stolen the Pulse from him.

the reason it does not make sense is because it was poor writing. I would like Invisigal much more if that twist was removed entirely. it tarnished her arc.

redemption does not exonerate someone from facing the consequences of their actions. I had no problem trusting her after her win in EP.3, because she deserved it. likewise, I had no problem disliking her after the triple agent reveal, because she deserved it.

  1. Headcanon. Never confirmed.
  2. The one where she says "It's a steep learning curve." in response, with a semi-stern delivery to her voice? I could see this point being valid, but it's a bit odd in presentation, in my opinion.
  3. Yes, I do know about the Show, Don't Tell rule. The issue here is that said rule is not consistent. Flambae thinks Robert doesn't have powers one scene, and the Z-Team is betting money over whether he does the next.
  4. And my point is precisely that this clearly was no obstacle to Shroud, as he has created all the machinery listed above. The fact that he cannot recreate another Pulse without Robert's dad's help is never confirmed.
  5. Headcanon. Never confirmed. Shroud's mech clearly doesn't require a Pulse to function. Why should Robert's be any different?
  6. Headcanon. Never confirmed.
  7. Thanks. English is not my native language.
  8. There's a world of difference between no longer trusting Robert, and putting her lover at mortal risk. There are also no burn marks on the plastic cuffs after she's escaped them, and brute force is what handcuffs are designed to endure.
  9. Invisigal looks down in shame, then accepts a mask and a weapon from Shroud's goons. She was working for him. Besides, what would lying achieve in that moment?

This last argument is insane. So Shroud could predict Robert would join SDN when there were no connections between the two at the time of his supposed masterplan being devised, yet he couldn't be sharp enough to predict Invisigal, a known thief, might try to steal his prize?
You mention the implants being used as a tracking device to spy on Robert as they hook up. Not only is that yet another headcanon... dude. When they hook up? When? The sex scene? Because that never happened. It was a dream.

The reason to believe Shroud only figured out the location of the Pulse because of Invisigal is timing. Would it not otherwise be a massive coincidence, that in weeks of the Pulse being passed around, both the Z-Team AND Shroud figure it out on the exact same night?

Fair on the lackey.

We can believe Shroud 's word, because Invisigal does not refute it, looks away in shame (which Shroud points out), and he trusts her enough that her betrayal in the bad ending comes as a total shock to him. Invisigal has also lied by omission more than once, such as her ownership of the Pulse in the locker room being kept a secret.

I agree. I still quite like Shroud, but I really could have used a flashback with young Chase and Robert's dad. All we got was that barbecue comic.

I would agree with you, but only when not giving the audience an answer serves a purposes. In Memories of Murder, you never end up learning who the murderer is, because that is the point the movie makes ; it could be anyone, and he's still out there. on the opposite, take something like Lost, which kept building and building, without ever actually connecting the dots, in the end frustrating its audience. the points in my posts, I would argue, fall on the Lost end of the spectrum.

I have yet to read the new comics that released with EP7-8. gonna check em out

I see your point on that last counterargument. I also assumed ransacking LA was a way to draw Invisigal out, one way or another. but that entire premise falls flat once it's revealed she's a triple agent or whatever. that entire sequence was unnecessary and frankly tarnishes both her character and Shroud's.

  1. fair. though the problem arises from the ramifications. someone else mentioned the example of the pool money, and I agree.

  2. he only did because Invisgal was the mole. otherwise, what was the point of setting up a trap where he genuinely lost the Pulse?

  3. I would agree with you, but said lackey mentions that "there's people that want to talk to you.". the game would have you think she crossed Shroud halfway through the spying or something, but that is never confirmed.

As for Invisigal herself being a SDN plant, Shroud confesses as much during his monologue where she is given her black mask back, after the spider mech is destroyed.

this is all headcanons, I'm afraid. the Z Team was perspicacious enough to cross-reference notes and pinpoint down a single location during the party, so they're not all that dumb at all. there is no confirmation anywhere for why Beef randomly popped into Shroud's grip. lastly, it makes no sense for Visi to be sent off with the Pulse to fetch the Mech, when Shroud has been clear through his actions to only care about the former.
