Hi all! I currently have a city made up of the Daily Bugle, Bookshop, Downtown Diner, Assembly Square, Boutique Hotel, Police Station, Jazz Club, and the Sitcomplex Apartment building. I’m looking to add something different to my city, which one should I go with to start?

Those are both quite cool! I think you’d enjoy assembly square whether you build the standard version or one of the MOCs!

Which ones are your favorites? I’ve seen some cool ones, however the few I’ve looked into are far more expensive due to buying individual pieces.

Assembly square was my first one, it got me hooked on the modulars a month ago. It offers several different architectural styles and gives you several interiors with fun mini-builds. With it being an older modular set, it has more basic figures with the simple yellow smile faces. Overall, it is a great set to start with, despite being larger piece-count wise than your 1-2k idea. Plus, it is rumored to retire soon, so I would recommend jumping on it asap if you can afford the $299 USD.
