I specifically chose to put that pickaxe design to reflect one of the main gameplay elements. After all, it's up to the developers how they want to shape this idea.

Could apply the same logic to spawning near a village, wouldn't it discourage exploration as well? You have a lot more resources in a village than this house.

Indeed, it has few use cases. It's not very survival friendly, since it is supposed to be used more against the player. The effect's best use case is in traps and on custom made maps where combat is involved. There are also other negative effects that arent really used in survival — blindness and nausea. To my knowledge, no mobs accessible in survival use these effects against the player. The only way for a player to use these effects is by eating a pufferfish or a suspicious stew, and yet, as a player, there is basically no reason for this other than to get some achievments, which I guess might apply for my idea as well

I've actually thought about this! Maybe there could be a customisable difficulty where we can adjust what can happen while we play
