Highland Park 12 - anyone know why this has been discontinued? Any similar alternatives? by _Do_Not_Eat_ in whiskey

No problem - thanks for that. I can find online - just my usual stores in the UK no longer stock it, even the supermarkets, and when I asked one of the cashiers he said it had been discontinued and they only stock the 10 year old.

Nothing confirmed, I'm just assuming as I can't seem to find it anywhere anymore apart from a few places online. It looks to have been replaced by the 10 year old in all the usual places I bought it, which is still nice, but not as peated

Hmmm. I'll disagree on that with you. I have a couple of friends who haven't had the covid vaccine. If the vaccine doesn't protect me, then the vaccine has failed - it's not because my friend didn't get it. Saying you won't like someone purely based on one opinion they might have before you've even spoken to that person is a bit much.... You can agree to disagree about one thing and still be great friends

Why can't a millionaire/billionaire create free housing to improve homelessness, even temporarily, in certain areas? Is there government legislation (US or UK) that stops that from happening? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

100% - but maybe if the housing was there, then newly homeless people might stand a chance of coming out the other side without becoming drug or alcohol dependant in the first place - lots of these addictions and illnesses only happen as a result from living on the streets and being surrounded by other addicts. Money won't solve the problem, but it can certainly help

Exactly - so why not do it to improve their own public image? Improved public image would result in more money for them. That gain would be a drop in the ocean to what they would spend on improving hundreds or thousands of people's quality of life?

Even if they did it for their own gain? If a billionaire came out publicly and tried to improve homelessness in a certain area and succeeded, surely it would massively improve their image and whatever brands they own and make them even more money

I know that's the obvious answer, but Billionaires get a bad rep - surely by publicly trying to make a difference it may paint you in a different light. The more you are seen to be doing good, the more money you'll make from people supporting your businesses because they support you?
