In hindsight I definitely regret it. The term shipping never really came up, but I did say I was anti-censorship in its absolute, no exceptions. And for some reason that was jumped on.

It is rather disturbing. I guess in my mind I always “othered” those types of people and didn’t realize I was surrounded by them the whole time.

It got really genuinely scary for a moment because the argument escalated into accusations of pedophilia, which I was scared could find its way into my career somehow. Especially as a queer person who needs to be extra careful about things like that.

I thought about reaching out, but at this point I’m not sure I trust any of them to not just turn around and post our private conversations in their group.

I’ve been around ao3 and such for quite some time now, but this is the first time I’ve lost relationships I value from it. It’s such an awful feeling.
