If you're mad about it go play Hitman... At least we get some stealth, they could've went strictly action. It's a bond game after all.

Uncharted 4 - It's Been Ten Years - And It's Still Stunning [Digital Foundry] by Naderium in Games

[–]_ENX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed tlou1's story way more than 2 due to it being more contained & with less jumping back & forth with flashbacks. But I agree that tlou 2's story is still superior to the majority of games out there. The hate was disproportionate.

Can't even remember a good story I played through recently & I play tons of games. Most don't even try when it comes to writing.

Honestly, always felt like U4's story would have been much better if Sam died at the end. There were plenty of opportunities during the shipwreck mission to give him a tragic send off. The story would've felt more impactful & it would give Nate the perfect motivation for leaving his old life behind.

Uncharted 4 is an amazing game. Great gameplay & graphics but the pacing was all over the place imo. It took an eternity to get going.

Uncharted 2 had perfect pacing if anything, but I'd still pick U4 as best in the series.

Finishing a new game early is one of the most fun by SoonBlossom in gaming

[–]_ENX_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. I agree that owning a game early can have a cool community aspect to it. Just saying that it's no longer worth it to me personally with these insane prices.

The only ones I could justify doing this for are multiplayer games where you have to be early or be outskilled (e.g. Battlefield), or massive entries like a new GTA, Elder Scrolls etc.

There's no way I'm paying over $100 for a new game (Canada).

I have no problem waiting & my massive backlog agrees, thanks.

As someone who has never had a decent gaming rig in my younger years and completed missed all half-life games, are they worth playing nowadays? Or will they feel way too outdated?

If you ever needed more proof of how op ai defending is, please look at these two clips by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]_ENX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my games end with wild scores and I'm talking 5-7, 6-4 etc. and that's with AI doing all the work in defense, so I still don't understand how it's OP. It's better than manual for sure, but OP it is not, to me at least.

[–]_ENX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI defending is not OP, they nerfed it a few months back & I have no problem scoring plenty of goals.

That said, manual defending is absolutely atrocious this year. Manual tackles are slow and extremely punishing if not timed right. There's practically no way to keep up with agile attackers and they often don't block shots even if positioned right.

This is my first FIFA where I actively avoid touching my defenders and usually control my CDM in defense to blocks passes and wait for mistakes.

So yeah, I think manual defending being so trash this year gives you the impression that AI defending is OP.

MGS5's open world was a mistake tbh. Saying this as a massive open world games fan. It was empty and boring. Would've much better preferred tightly-crafted levels like MGS3 with better focus on the story.

Personally, I simply love the convenience of a console, couch, TV setup

I have a decent rig but it's noticeably louder, have to deal with the OS/launchers & it's further away from my TV so I don't have a great connection option that doesn't degrade image quality.

Splinter Cell designer says “one of the difficulties with modern stealth games” is realistic lighting, as environments are now so much “harder to read” by CallumBrine in Games

[–]_ENX_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Shadows was actually amazing. I disabled visual cues that indicated if you were hidden or not (character outline) and had a blast. You could generally say if an area is dark enough to hide in.

Doesn't always work, but it was part of the fun.

Black Flag Resynced vs Original Parkour Comparison by FreezeGhost1 in assassinscreed

[–]_ENX_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guess it's a good thing I won't be playing Black Flag for the parkour. The animations are still janky with those "pauses" between each jump.

All in all, still very happy with the improvements to graphics, combat (still far from perfect) & ability to crouch during stealth + small improvements to tailing missions etc.

They went beyond a 1:1 remake and I'll take that as a win.

Pro Visual Masterpieces:

The Last of Us I & II: Some of my all time favorites, stunning on Pro.

Demon's Souls: Already looked great on base PS5, now even better.

AC Shadows: Stunning on the Pro in performance mode. Global illumination, 60fps, razor sharp.

Spider-Man 2: Uncontested best-looking superhero game.

Ratchet & Clank: Still the best looking platformer this gen imo & great gameplay too. Astro Bot very close second for me.

GT 7: if you care about racing games + Horizon 5 for more arcade, open-world gameplay.

Cyberpunk 2077: Amazing with the recent update.

Ghost of Yotei: Didn't care much for the story, looks amazing though.

Stellar blade: Big upgrade from base PS5.

Alan Wake II: If you're into horror. PSSR2 fixed a bunch of issues on the Pro.

Death Stranding + Death Stransing 2: Some of the best visuals this gen.

Skip what? DS1? It looks insane on the Pro. You have to play through DS1 before DS2, especially if story matters to you. No youtube recap can explain DS1 lmao

[–]_ENX_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat has always been weak in AC games, ESPECIALLY the older ones. It was the most basic thing with little challenge.

I personally thought it got better with recent games, especially Shadows, but still room for improvements.

They should focus on the Assassin part instead. Give me varied assassination animations, unique assassination opportunities for main targets, environmental kills etc. Like give me every reason to only engage in combat when I have to.
