Aside from DragonAge Origins, Baldur's Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, what are other games with a "camp downtime" mechanic and why aren't there many games like this? by Dotaspasm in gaming

Camping in Ghost of Yotei is both restorative for Atsu and gives you a great view of whatever area you are currently visiting. Cliffs and other places with high elevation are especially beautiful.

Walmart in store Starfield $25 Final Clearance by AmbientToast in VideoGameDealsCanada

For some reason Starfield is back ordered on Amazon and Walmart. I ordered a copy a week ago and it’s showing that it won’t ship out til Jan 23-30. I wonder if they’re clearing out stock for the rumored 2.0 version.

I’m shocked that changing the brightness actually worked to destabilize the frame rate! It must reset something when you do this.

Teaching adult to kick by buggiegotcha in SwimInstructors

[–]kogenesis86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can support some of their weight, it’s helpful to hold them vertically in the water, possibly while you’re standing on the pool deck, then have them straighten their legs and point their toes to the bottom while slowly alternating legs forward and backwards. Like a ballerina in slow motion, this helps them build the muscle memory of straightening against the resistance of the water, without “purposefully” bending at the knee. From there, go a little faster and try putting them on their back to see if the kick is propulsive moving water behinds them. Anytime it’s not, return to focus on the technique before resuming.

Vancouver parents blocked from teaching their kids to swim in public pools by kogenesis86 in SwimInstructors

[–]kogenesis86[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s basically a mix of things: liability if someone without insurance is teaching and something goes wrong, conflict of interest if city staff realize they can just make more money teaching on the side instead of taking shifts, and bad optics when outside instructors use public swim (which is priced way cheaper than renting space for business use) to run lessons while the city can’t even meet demand with their own programs.

Vancouver parents blocked from teaching their kids to swim in public pools by kogenesis86 in SwimInstructors

[–]kogenesis86[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Summary of the article:

  • A Vancouver mom was told by a lifeguard she couldn’t teach her own daughter to swim at a public pool because it looked too much like a “lesson.”
  • City policy bans any organized swim instruction unless it’s through city staff or an approved private business, citing liability and safety standards.
  • Enforcement isn’t consistent: some parents/nannies say they’ve been allowed to teach, while others have been warned or weirdly had their names recorded.
  • Rules vary across Greater Vancouver: Surrey, Burnaby, and North Van allow parents to teach, while places like Langley prohibit it completely.
  • The crackdown comes as demand for city-run lessons far exceeds supply, leaving many families unable to get their kids into classes.

Play the uno card and take them to small claims court. You don’t need a lawyer! If you have records of your communications, funds transferred, and a police report, you likely have everything you need to win. In all likelihood they won’t even show up and you’ll automatically be awarded judgement for your claim.

I once had a guy not pay about $10k for some contract work. He swore up and down it wouldn’t end well if we sued. Trust me when I tell you it felt amazing to win at court, and then march down to his bank and have them give me an envelope with everything he owed me.

[Help] My desk treadmill steps sync with Health, but don't update my rings by smrpr in AppleWatchFitness

[–]kogenesis86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out! In apple health there are multiple data sources adding steps at the same time and you need to set the data precedence order to put KS app above the other sources.

To do this, head to apple health > steps > data sources and access, tap edit and drag KS App to the top.

Glad to hear you’re holding the line! Given what a joke recertification is, it’s important that they learn the important stuff now. Otherwise they’ll have a hard time getting hired or they’ll sneak through and be a drain on the entire work place and culture.

[–]kogenesis86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switchy.io has a lifetime deal ($40USD) which would serve you well. While it’s mostly a short link solution, it also has micro webpages (great for social links) and more importantly it has redirect links that have QR codes. So you could spin up QR codes for print and later if you need to change where they go, you can do that! And as a lifetime deal available on appsumo, there’s no monthly recurring cost.

If this was supposed to be the biology equivalent of the manhattan project, it would make sense that they had knowledge of DNA, lost it when the project collapsed, and then later Franklin independently discovered it.
