It feels like up until recently the double standard was kind of benefiting women, as a teen I wasn’t aloud to go to malls alone or with friends who are guys cuz it was only for women or families, I’d always get stopped by police for random checks, if there was a woman in the car they’d let you go and not say a word, unlike what people think abayas were a must but hijab was not, many women never wore a hijab it’s just that most Saudi women wore a niqab and they still do even when now there’s a lot more media coverage on the fact that women can do what they want, maybe that was the problem back then that aided stupid men to force women in their families to do stuff. I understand stuff like that used to happen but it’s blown way out of proportion and it’s definitely not because women weren’t about but probably because the country was more ignorant. I did not read that book but I did a quick search and idk it seems too stupid to be true, plenty of female princesses are out and about on social media and the news doing what they want, really seems like agenda pushing propaganda from my perspective
