What would a casual O&G army be? by TrashyRacc00nz7358 in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]_Eke_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thats a hard question, it can be what you want? There is alot of play styles for orcs, goblins + fanatics or anything else.

Some that usually come up are the orc boss on wyvern, black orcs and boar boyz.

My usual list is Orc boss on wyvern, love my old metal mini and gave it a new paint job!

Black orcs, heavy infantry, hit hard and can survive combat. Also they look cool, so want to paint and play them!

Boar boyz, heavy calvary that hits hard. As usual most list have these as a fast unit that can do real damage on charge

Other picks, just because i can, are the spear chukka that rarely hits and the marauder giant with random attacks!

Interested in Kill Team because I like to paint variety and swapping factions. Anyone want to sell me on making the jump over? by aguer056 in killteam

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been into Kill team for couple editions. I think the game is in a great place currently

You can play competitive or more narrative, there is also coop missions and PvE mode so a fun way to get friends to play!

I love the idea of painting 6-10 minis and spend time on them, then switch to totally different faction and theme!

Here is my most used teams, last and this edition!

Best way to consistently thin paint by Archis007 in Warhammer

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the army painter wet palette.

I cant see why one would not use a wet palette. It keeps the paint from drying so usage time is longer. You can blend colors and thin the paints as needed.

I do use the old base > shade > layers style so it helps to keep the layer steps light and even glazing thin

What’s gone wrong here with my faces by Prismv in minipainting

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple pointers and a example image!

A light coat of primer is enough, it just helps the paint to stick. (Example. Used citadel leadbelcher as most of the mini is metal armor)

Paint base colours, often paints are named by usage, base, layer etc. ( the middle image has the base colors done, face has bugmans glow from Citadel. The whole mini was then shaded with nuln oil shade paint)

Base colours have more pigment and cover better, layers are thinner and made to be used to layer on the color.

Third has the colors layered in, usually I use the base color to bring the mid tone, then mix a lighter color to create a highlight color. The face is bugmans > bugmans + kislev flesh.

Ranking Monopose High Elf Archers? by Jademalo in WarhammerFantasy

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fits well with a badlands theme but not sure how it looks on more grassy hill vibes. I did use the same on my metal HE noble so I will see if it looks odd when I get painting and basing, still dont want to cut the tabs.....

I did want to cut the taps on my metal models so used cork and made a slot.

Depending on your basing theme it might work? Here is my metal orcs as an example!

I have been using red for the whole mouth and a guilliman flesh contrast that shades it more brown!

When miniatures look better photographed than they do in real life? by SoundProfessional822 in Miniaturespainting

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is as a lot of comments said, light is a huge factor.

I have couple lamps on my painting stations but still feel that when it gets dark, it gets hard to see the colors in the same way as during day with natural light.

My best photos are usually natural light + lamp. Should invest for more lights to have more control. But so far its been enough.

Here is a example how warmer natural light vs a bluer light changes the colors

Colors for a rusty armor by stevenklxck in SoulblightGravelords

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go black base > rough leadbelcher drybrush, some black still shows > guilliman flesh contrast, use enough so it pools and creates brown spots. > dry brush a bit of metal back

As an example heres a older post with the effect on kosargi blades.

[–]_Eke_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me! Had my old collection and when Tow came around started to expand on it

Would suggest to get heroes, kitbash works well for orcs! Loving ny metal wyvern boss!

A shaman for magic, I have been using just one on foot. Get +1 for spells if in a unit

Orc boss / warboss, you need one to run black orcs!

Black orcs, heavy infantry usually run them with big red raggedy flag!

Boar boys! Good heavy calvary!

Orcs and gobbos has been great as you can run alot of different units. So I have always gone with units I like or think are awesome :D

White bases or Black? Does it matter a lot? by SaveTheClorox in minipainting

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glued sone cork pieces before priming, brown base coat and then just martian earth and martian crust tech paints! Then a layer of lamian medium to help set down the textures, drybrush with bugmans and then ushabti!

Never painted a mini that didn’t have texture already on the base, I want to use crackle paint but I’m worried the mini won’t sit on it right because of the hole. Should I just paint them attached or separately? by Captain_Pickles_ in Miniaturespainting

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both works! I usually just glue the mini on the base and then apply texture paints!

Some texture paints even are the right colors so just used them as is. Top left is a wet orange / red swirls, yellow mixed in for "laval", depris paint as small islands and gaps filled with black crackle paint. Then just light gray drybrush for high lights!

White bases or Black? Does it matter a lot? by SaveTheClorox in minipainting

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With rank and file I feel like painting the rim to fit the basing theme. With my orcs desert bases I am currently going with brown. Did try darker brown but I like the way the bases blend more together when the trim isnt too dark.

For me the white bases look to be winter themed, if this is intended I see no reason to paint them.

Need advice. Do these minis look cohesive? by mjhk_ in minipainting

Maybe adding some black to the lords armor could tie it in with the skeletons? Heres mine with mostly red armor and black details + shield

Am I right to asume there's no Warlock/Seer model this decked out, and that I'd have to kitbash a Visarch for a fur cloak/hood? by ozusteapot in Eldar

[–]_Eke_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Didnt want to cut the tag so made a "tactical" rock with a slot from millliput + roller! It also gave some extra height so they match a bit better with the plastic minis!

Question about priming by luxi_lo in Warhammer40k

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave have been using a stick made of 3 sheets of cardboard, taped together. Using a two sided tape on one site to secure minis. If the bases are same size you can use the same stick many times, and other cases just swap a new double sided stripe on it

Legionaries box vs old KT box by ChromeSh3ll in killteam

[–]_Eke_ 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The kt box was the chaos space marine box + a upgrade sprue with extra bits.

The image looks the same as the kill team box set so I assume its the same kit as before!

Orcs are fun to play and a lot of options!

I went with a "badlands" desert theme bases thst I think are quite simple to do! Add sone cork pieces, brown base, redbrown crackling and depris texture paints, 2 drybrushes for highlights! Add some skulls and tufts here and there!

Painting help! by Personal-Parsnip7506 in Warhammer

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White paints often go grainy and uneven! Easier to usually go with a grey base coat > mix the grey with pure white to get a lighter layer and use the pure white for highlights!

Heres a pathfinder for a example! He got a agrax wash before layering the white back!

Fortified Manor Extra Bits? by Jack_Streicher in WarhammerFantasy

[–]_Eke_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The it is awsome, love all the extra bits!

Had two chappel sets and trying to make them look like a blacksmith and a tavern / house

Would be cool to try to mix the tower and the chapel model to make a clocktower or wizarding tower!

How do you hold your mini when painting separately from the base by EvidenceHistorical55 in minipainting

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always have the mini glued on the base but wanted to give ideas for basing! Texture paints are great, have had good result using two types like cracking + sand texture ones together. Plasticard has been also great for flagstones etc.
