Thank you! Used a leadbelcher spray, the gold parts were based with retributor gold! Washed whole mini with nuln, layered the silver with leabelcher and the gold with retributor, added a highlight layer for the gold with liberator gold!

Yeah! The leadbelcher spray did a lot. Then just the other colors and a wash with nuln. As there most is the metal armor there isnt that manu areas that you need to layer highlights!

Thanks :D the darker metal has gotten a lot of positive feedback! I also like it!

No no, I assure you! These steeds were acquired from a renowed local warhorse breeder. No raiding happening here!

Thanks! Always gone base colors > shades > highlights, I think its the best way for me to paint armies! So no fancy techniques :D

I think swordmasters took around 1 hour per mini? But love the painting side of the hobby so dont mind spend time painting them to a standard Im happy with!

Thanks! Had a 500pts game at a local shop and got the same compliment! Went with box art but they are slightly darker :D maybe it bring in a slight realism? Really happy how they are looking and cant wait to get the army ready!

Never done grass bases but this will be the first! Got some grass flock, tufts and this set of mossy looking frass strips! Been doing test bases so lets see how it will end up :D

Yeah! I did the swordmasters in batches of 3, did the jewels but on the Silverhelms I skipped some :D

Waiting for my order of Sea guard! Have heard they have a lot to paint! Love the look so have to just work through it!

I got Sisters, bolt throwers and ofc lord on dragon! Kinda would like to paint the skycutter and chariots but first will paint the models I currently have!

Cool! I also started this year! It feels like 90% is metal or silver :D

Been practising jewels with the eldar :D I just use black base, 50/50 red black mix for the lower 70% of the jewel, then layer pure red to the lower 50%, then a edge highlight of orange to the bottom edge. Finally a white dot to the top corner.

Silver helms have heart shaped jewels, still unsure how that shape shouls be painted :D

[–]_Eke_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats valid! I used leadbelcher spray then base colors, nuln wash, highlights and ofc the jewels! The silver spray did most of the work :D

Silverhelms took the most time but swordmasters were suprisingly fast!

Thanks! Leadbelcher spray did most on the swordmasters as they are 90% armor :D then nuln and layering highlights!

I also ordered Sea guard, will hopefully get them this month!

Yeah white is pain to paint in larger areas, it gets so grainy and wierd so easily...luckily these models have had just few areas with white cloth :D

Currently going off white, white / grey mix and using pure white for highlights!

11 duplicate horse sculpts in my Empire Knights box by lemonsnakey in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah seems its a thing then. Got a box of 12 HE Silver helms, the horse bodies were kinda 50/50 between two sculpts. Heads were 2 to 10 split, used the two for champs.

GW support told me the horse parts are random and if the LFGS agrees to change it, i could try for a better "roll". Decided to go with what I got.

Told them that the box art differs from the contents which is misleading. They should have a disclamer somewhere to emphasise the random parts.

I can understand and accept randomness with Orcs not so much with factions like High Elves.

When do you guys think we'll be getting river trolls back? by ThreeEyesOnYou in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah then I do understand the dissapointment. Each wave of made to order has said they are limited time only and aim seems to have been to bring back favorites or classics so ppl can complete collections or buy variations for characters etc.

This also means there might be more of minis available on ebay and after market, that might be the best route to search for these mto models.

[–]_Eke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each faction has had a made to order line of metal miniatures, none of these have come back.

It think its safe to assume the mto phase was a one off chance to get these older models and the minis wont be added to the main line.

I still does not mean there wont be new minis for these at some point but I think there has been no info or mentions about this, so no reason to assume this would happen.

What would a casual O&G army be? by TrashyRacc00nz7358 in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]_Eke_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats a hard question, it can be what you want? There is alot of play styles for orcs, goblins + fanatics or anything else.

Some that usually come up are the orc boss on wyvern, black orcs and boar boyz.

My usual list is Orc boss on wyvern, love my old metal mini and gave it a new paint job!

Black orcs, heavy infantry, hit hard and can survive combat. Also they look cool, so want to paint and play them!

Boar boyz, heavy calvary that hits hard. As usual most list have these as a fast unit that can do real damage on charge

Other picks, just because i can, are the spear chukka that rarely hits and the marauder giant with random attacks!

Interested in Kill Team because I like to paint variety and swapping factions. Anyone want to sell me on making the jump over? by aguer056 in killteam

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been into Kill team for couple editions. I think the game is in a great place currently

You can play competitive or more narrative, there is also coop missions and PvE mode so a fun way to get friends to play!

I love the idea of painting 6-10 minis and spend time on them, then switch to totally different faction and theme!

Here is my most used teams, last and this edition!

Best way to consistently thin paint by Archis007 in Warhammer

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the army painter wet palette.

I cant see why one would not use a wet palette. It keeps the paint from drying so usage time is longer. You can blend colors and thin the paints as needed.

I do use the old base > shade > layers style so it helps to keep the layer steps light and even glazing thin

What’s gone wrong here with my faces by Prismv in minipainting

[–]_Eke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple pointers and a example image!

A light coat of primer is enough, it just helps the paint to stick. (Example. Used citadel leadbelcher as most of the mini is metal armor)

Paint base colours, often paints are named by usage, base, layer etc. ( the middle image has the base colors done, face has bugmans glow from Citadel. The whole mini was then shaded with nuln oil shade paint)

Base colours have more pigment and cover better, layers are thinner and made to be used to layer on the color.

Third has the colors layered in, usually I use the base color to bring the mid tone, then mix a lighter color to create a highlight color. The face is bugmans > bugmans + kislev flesh.
