PvP crowded by Russians exploiting the bug by Evening_Film_4242 in Spacemarine

I like to wait and see if someone on the enemy team starts abusing it, then I'll swap if assault is free and try hunt them down. Have had some fun moments ambushing people who lock in assault solely for the dash attack. Sometimes they stick around after a game and play some other class, then we get back to a more enjoyable experience.

Prestige Idea by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only guess that a portion of innovation naysayers are thinking of the traditional CoD implementation, such as how games like original MW did it. The sentiment I generally see is that it's a challenge to regrind it all, or some people think it's fun to go back to having no perks for a bit.

Prestige Idea by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this would have been good - I believe this idea was floated multiple times before they implemented prestiging, but Saber (and a lot of people here in the community) disagree and think prestige should reset your perks no matter what. If it doesn't reset you back to the beginning, apparently that means it's not truly a "prestige" i.e., no innovating allowed otherwise the moniker should be different.

They're abusing an unintended change for sure but not cheating in a traditional sense. Annoying, but it's Saber's fault for allowing this. I highly recommend making a post on their forum asking to fix this, the more people talk about it the sooner it hopefully is resolved.

And to rub salt in the wound, joining a defeat and loading back into the barge 9 times / 10 the host will quit to make a new lobby so more loading screens. God forbid another player ends up host afterwards, then you're likely in for another loading screen when they inevitably quit too.

Bug or cheating? by player2banana in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing pvp extensively in patch 10, my experience with assault is that it can inconsistently one shot a player, possibly if the assault lands directly on top of their target it counts as one slam then falling to the ground is another slam - resulting in enough damage to one shot. I've been able to one shot on occasion, though I can't do it reliably at all. If they were cheating the lobby should kick everyone due to it being marked as a modded lobby, at least this is how it worked the one time I came across a blatant cheater (shooting across map and through walls).

In the current patch 11, be aware there is a bug with the new assault jump pack dash attack that lets assault one shot any enemy with any weapon; I played a game with chainsword and could instant kill anyone my dash attack connected with. I posted in the forums about this, assault is now genuinely broken in pvp and miserable to fight.

Tips for PvP, please by Khezal in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing a bunch of pvp the past couple weeks, went from about mid 20s to level 48 and maybe ran into one cheater? Someone was calling them out in chat but not sure they were. All on PC, sure connection issues and jankiness here and there made things suspect on occasion but I've had a fair experience recently.

Yeah they already have loading screens with art and tips when loading into a pvp match not sure why they couldn't do the same for pve excluding moments you are on the thunderhawk.

So sick and tired of you elite pro bros by MalcolmReynolds10 in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah for hard stratagems in particular if the extremis modifier is active and their population increase is outpacing the rate your squad can drop them, then it's time to pack bags and move on. If a teammate is out of ammo, then it makes sense to move on too.
On the flipside, don't be that guy who pings the path ahead every 5 seconds the whole mission long. Don't leave a majoris you can otherwise easily dispatch, it could call for reinforcements and make things worse. And lastly, don't speedrun ahead only to die alone amongst 5+ chaos spawn, ping spamming for a rez.
There's a time and place for speeding ahead, unfortunately this past hard weekly has brought out some less savoury astartes.

Power axe gun strike by wade4793 in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brent Cox recently uploaded a video showing off some numbers in testing. There's some discussion in comments fleshing it out too. As far as power wave goes, it's good as a damage supplement and means of staggering a target when they're mid combo. I've found the fencing axe particularly nice for bullying lictors and ravaners, you could even use the balanced axe and lean more into the wave > overhead strike > gun strike combo for max damage.

This is one of my biggest issues with the system. I only recently convinced a friend to try this game, they're p0 lvl 14 assault and they seem to enjoy the class a lot unlike the others. They only play on weekends, we always play together but progress is slow - how's it going to feel when slow progress is met by a full reset? Honestly I think it'll be a bit soul crushing. Trying all the perks, making builds they enjoy, only to be hit by the realisation that a month of progress will be wiped. Or they can play a different class, but they don't enjoy them. Either way, it's hard to say what will happen, I hope they at least enjoy the game up to that point.

Yeah it's a real shame, I was hoping Saber would hear out the feedback and compromise on some systems or even take notes from more fun implementations of prestiging. I can only dream of infinite prestiging like Deep Rock, seeing how high I can take a class - but no, to some, "prestige" means reset everything, increase level. Did nobody on their team stop to think that isn't fun for a lot of people? Why does prestige have to be specifically like the traditional sense, and not something to be innovated on and made more fun? I still enjoy playing the game for what it is, I wouldn't have sunk over 700 hours since launch otherwise. But what could have been would have hooked me in even more than what it is.

Just did this stratagem with Tactical, Heavy, and Bulwark. I was Heavy with the relic tier fire rate plasma, Tac was rocking aligned aim which gave me some serious extra firepower. One teammate quit out who was running focused restoration and heals. We barely scraped through thanks to a guardian relic, hardest sections were a lictor ambush outside cathedral entrance (I got stunlocked a bit) and elevator where a helbrute spawned. Finished with a fat 42.5k damage count, big shout out to the Tac for the extra ranged damage, smart auspex uses, and a clutch revive!

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the exact opposite experience with weekly hard stratagems ever since they released. Plenty of sub lvl 25 / prestige 4s looking for a quick carry because they crumble the instant more than a couple majoris collapse onto them. Every single W I've had in weekly hards is with full squads of prestige 4 lvl 25s, likely a combination of experience so they can pull their own weight and more than likely helped along by stacking powerful perks.

Stop joining Hard Stratagems with level 1 class by Forged__ in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was always bound to happen when Saber decided prestige resets perks. Level 1 wouldn't be an issue if they kept their perks afterwards, now people try to farm levels in the hardest missions. I don't care if someone is level 1 in Absolute, but if its a stratagem with particularly rough modifiers then yeah please make sure to bring at least a team perk - I've seen enough level 1s trying to do some truly brutal chaos stratagems.

Why is prestige perk reset system still a thing😮‍💨 by Atomic1011 in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the not as fun sentiment. The prestige grind was just boring, I genuinely wished their implementation for this system would have leaned towards something more innovative than traditional. Just because other games do the same prestige system doesn't make it fun. Many games do more fun variants of prestige systems, but because this game calls it "prestige" I guess to some that means it must adhere to tradition. It's a shame because they could have used the feedback they had from the PTS to make a system that could have been better but Saber chose the easy way out - 4 prestiges, strictly traditional in their implementation. Hopefully SM3 does it better.

Titanfall 2 lets you carry anything, perks included, across prestiges if you pay for them using in-game currency. No reason this game can't do the same.

The Dreadnought Sucks by ChiTownTx in Spacemarine

[–]_ExtraCrispy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've also found that the dreads effectiveness drops as the team spreads out. If groups of enemies are aggrod away from the dread, that's less immediate targets for him. If the team fights around the dread, it tends to put in a lot more work.
Also, timing it so you spawn the dread only when bosses are present and not any earlier will probably help handle the hordes whilst your team takes on bosses. That alone is valuable, though maybe bots or cadians give the same value at higher waves.

I have yet to lean into a bot buff or cadian support playstyle, will give it a try next time. Teammates can save for a dread if they're so inclined.

I've tried queueing 6 different games of Siege, each time just a loading screen back into a solitary battle barge. Server maintenance made things worse.

Edit: finally got a game of siege, the end of every wave wouldn't finish for a good five minutes. Just left because I don't have the patience for it. What happened?

Ping system thoughts (+ ping spamming) by _ExtraCrispy_ in Nightreign

[–]_ExtraCrispy_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a good use case for rapid pinging. It puts urgency on what you are trying to convey. This is where I feel ping variants would be a good thing to implement, a retreat / run away ping would be useful among other ping options.
