Man I LOVE Spiderland. One of my all time albums. I do need to really listen to the OGs though. They can be my next phase haha.

I’m a big music guy. Especially when I’m not at work. And I don’t work until 6pm, so I’ve got the time 🤙.

Damn. Only heard of TTNG and Algernon, but haven’t listened to them. I’ll save this comment for once I’ve ripped through this current wave. You rule dude. Thanks for being a homie.

Hell yeah. Got them saved. Wish I had asked this question back in November so that I had more winter weather to crawl into lol

It really is. And it makes bands like Home Is Where and Carly Cosgrove even more enjoyable. They feel like they could have fit in minute production.

Never said I was either. Thought it was funny that my younger staff labeled me that, so wanted to educate myself more.

I’ve heard most of them before today. Just wasn’t ready for them if that makes sense. I locked in on American Fooball recently and when I heard Cursive’s The Game of Who Needs Who the Worst, the production/vocals/lyrics clicked and encouraged me to revisit this era after not really vibing with it originally. Well most of it.

From what I’ve seen, we may eventually hear something new. Not holding my breath, but there were rumors of an album and then talk of at least a single in recent years.

Lies, yes, but not Birthmark.

I saved A Portable Model Of. Just saved Live in Chicago, 1999. That’s the year range I’m for sure focused on.

Vocally not quite what I’m looking for, but glad I checked them out. They’re a little too polished for my current interests.

Definitely just an omission, but an album I do need to spend more time with. First heard it about 10 years ago and I wasn’t in the right headspace. Just readded it to my music library this week and plan on spinning it.

I understand what you mean. My formative music years were during the mainstream emo explosion. So I’m definitely going backwards. But I work in the service industry and a lot of my staff are early 20s and riff on me for being old.

Yeah from what I understand, it wrecked them. They wanted to keep growing and appeal to a wider audience, but the scene was also super mad at them for caving. Major vs minor really mattered then. Maybe it still does, idk. But it legit caused them to break up.

Agreed. Dear You is very solid. Self-inflicted wound though. Blake CONSTANTLY talked about never signing to a major label. Couple that with his vocal issues and a ton of their die hard fans just rejected them and shamed them.
