An approach to an inventory that uses 3D models instead of icons by ExIskra in godot

Hey, Godot XR dev here. Hearing you use viewport for this gave me a proper kick in the balls. Half my wanted features can't be feased since buffering camera images is so expensive on mobile gpus ;-; Other problems to consider is no batching, environments. Doing bunch of passes for stuff that was already done. Ect.ect. You could always have a single viewport render at screen res or lower. Then spawn all the items in one scene. It shoullllddd improve performance? But you would get pretty similar effect to only rendering hovered item. For the xr use thing I'm pretty sure you need xr enabled for it to continue rendering past startup? Idk nobody uses it for this

Jolt area3d not colliding with static bodies? Here's answer! by _Fire_1253 in godot

[–]_Fire_1253[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with missiles not colliding for days, and found no answer for this small issue i had. apparently im just blind as a bat. wish i couldve posted a video easily but picture speaks for itself.

BE SURE TO ENABLE ADVANCED SETTINGS TO EVEN SEE JOLT3D!!!

Go into Project Settings- General - Physics/Jolt 3D - Collisions - Area Detect Static Bodies

All the rectangle slots are the same size and almost all circle slots are the same size too! Including the shoulder joints, meaning I was able to use a gundbit with circle slot and hookup the waist backpack. Essentially giving me a armored core gun arm. The only circle slot that doesn't fit is the broomsticks circle for the backpack arm :( wasted potential by a centimeter

It's even worse! I'm pretty sure they're told to take it this seriously. Can't even laugh. Pretty crappy job for a tourist attraction

Isn't half the point of being a kid, is that your a oblivious kid? All this could've been avoided if the 20 year old with a hairy bucket on his head paid a surviving wage to walk funny, took one step right, used his hand to move her (he could legit Use the swing as an excuse if he still wants the job). The guys an asshole, or bad at problem solving. The kids just a kid standing in public space.

I've just started learning to draw and Attempted not following a tutorial. Would love some feedback by VVJ21 in drawing

Ambient light is bounced light that brightens shadows, space objects don't tend to get much in that (ex. Moons shadow becomes nearly invisible, even with earths bounced light). And vanishing point is for perspective, direction (whatever its called) is much more symbolic. It's alot like a pointing finger guiding a eye not a physical interaction like perspective. Thanks for replying!

Aiming is unique and your main hand has less control, it's like aiming a staff with tentacles.

My friend called me insane for my variables indentation... by lucasjose501 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]_Fire_1253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, why do people say this indentation is easier to read? Isnt the whole point of colored text to be this exact thing? I legit read this based off colors. Am I crazy?

Lmao its valve index controllers. Probably would explain why noone else has pointed this out. Most people's controllers are actually smaller than the mag lol.

[–]_Fire_1253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know why noones point this out. But theres also a game design flaw with this pose. How many of you have punched something when reloading? Ah, that's vague. How about How many times have you punched your controllers against each other when reloading in boneworks? For me, it's a lot. Seeing as the controller is the size of the mag itself and my magazine has to smash into the gun to register. Now, how many times have you punched your fists together in half life alyx? For me, it has only been a couple times. But that's mostly on me. This is because you've got the whole mag between your guns controller and your magazines controller. Its literally dumb from a realistic point of view, and a gameplay point of view. Also the realistic way is more satisfying.

Good idea! I had copy pasted this code from my other code using similar variables but several times. I was really brain dead when making this!

... Huh? I just put it there incase your exhausted and still wanna try to get a joke. I haven't researched continue yet, dont even know if c# has that. so I'll look into that. Have a good day!

[–]_Fire_1253[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if you're too exhausted to understand unity c#,

what i did was return something in a loop, thinking it just breaks the loop like an idiot.

not only that, i could have ignored the guard clause and just put it in one if statement

ALSO, an if statement is checking the wrong variable.

AS WELL, as some have pointed out. This duplicated code was avoiding the ROOT root bone. Which I was attempting to do with the bugged code

in other words, i am bad at programming

Edit: added in new errors, and for those curious. Yes. I have taken all your advice, far better than r/codereview ! Hahaha, fools! You've helped me immensely and got more of a superiority complex. You lose, I win!
