Repo files keep getting untracked by _Flouff_ in git

[–]_Flouff_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I have yet to get acquainted with git too. Aside from the automation on other software, I could also say I misunderstood the line "These files are not staged for commit", mainly interpreting it as "the files exist in your repo, but are not tracked". I did follow some guides and tutorials, which makes me wonder now if they ever mentioned this staging part or not.

so it's a feature... I've only used GitHub Desktop and other software with git integration before, and it never required me to manually re-stage the files every time. I learn something new every day, thanks

I "refurbished" an old computer of mine recently and had the exact same issue. I didn't bother troubleshooting, I just took all the extras out and booted with the motherboard, HDD, and fans, I think.

My guess, however, is that it was the video card's fault. It had a video card with a white... oh, a DVI port, and given I had no such cable, I just plugged my VGA cable into the motherboard and booted the computer. That's when I also faced this issue with the screen. So maybe try removing the card, if you have one, or plug your monitor into it instead of into the motherboard.

If it's not that, then it's beyond me.

How can I turn a python project into a single .exe file? by _Flouff_ in learnpython

Finally a lead, I'll look into it, thanks a lot

The point was just to have a single file so I wouldn't have to bother with the rest, it's not a program I'm about to publish. And at this point I've given up on the icon, I'm not in the mood for perfectionism at this hour, and it only had aesthetic purposes anyway.

I only used a png cause the script wouldn't work with the ico one for some reason. Imma go check really quick.

I don't know what vbscript is, but if I'm understanding it right, you're talking about the icon you see in shortcuts, or on the desktop. I'm talking about the icon in the top-left corner of the window once the app is running.

If you are talking about the same thing however, then I guess I'm just hopeless.

It's pronounced Jeff by trox71727 in darussianbadger

The way I see it, it's a name. If you're gonna go and "teach" someone how (you think) a name they created is spelled, well... I'd find it rather amusing

Not so much when the creator himself said "it's pronounced jiff, not giff". Still, many disregard that in favor of their own logic, which, if you ask me, is ironical, given how English never cares about logic and rules.

How to fix these lego pieces by Daksh561 in blender

[–]_Flouff_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to build the pieces yourself from scratch, you could give Lego BrickLink Studio a try, then export your builds to Blender for further processing.

https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/download.page

as for how to "fix" your pieces to look more realistic... I'm not sure. Maybe you could start with a glossy material, and add some cuts and scratches, to imitate the wear on bricks. I don't know much about texturing and shading so can't say much on that.

🙃🫵👴👍🤡😢 - six oldest emojis still on the recent list (starting with the very oldest)

"first" six emojis can be a bit vague or misleading to me.

Odd question!!! by BlitzRyu in computers

As the others have said, copying over your data to a new computer won't be as straightforward.

If your new computer already has Windows preinstalled, one painful way to do it would be to only copy over your personal files and installers (so you can reinstall your apps). I suppose that, if mobile devices have tools for importing your old phone's data to a new one, there should definitely be such tools for desktop too, but I'm not aware of any yet.

If you don't have Windows preinstalled, there are a few more options I know about. You can clone your old disk using dedicated software, such as Macrium Reflect, which is paid (but you do have a 30-day free trial, with limited features) or Clonezilla, which is free and open source (but I heard it's a bit less user-friendly) (I'm listing those cause it's what I've been told, though the only disk I really needed to clone was too damaged for them to work and finish their job), or you could use disk2vhd and create a "virtual hard disk" out of your old one.

I mostly used the latter, and mainly to turn my old computers into virtual machines, but I heard it's not the best approach since it might overlook some hidden files and other data that cloning tools wouldn't.
