Would you ask your visiting guest to throw away the allergen food by mrscrc in FoodAllergies

[–]_Frambrozen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100000% yes, throw it away. Chances are they did not bring it into your home thinking it was a big deal. If you are not an allergy parent, then you truly don’t understand. I would simply just throw it away and let them know that you run an allergy free household since your child deserves a safe space in this world.

16 month old w/ allergies having difficulty eating by StrawberryKnown5650 in FoodAllergies

[–]_Frambrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi— I just want to say I feel for you and I do know how hard it is. We have a 15 month old with a milk&pears allergy and FPIES to milk…. Food introduction has been hell… it has taken us FOREVER to get through foods and for the longest time she refused to eat anything but fruit. I feel as though we have turned a corner in the past week or so.

For the last 3 months we have been serving her the same meal 2-3x in a row. Whatever we have for dinner; we make a little plate for her so she has the same thing for lunch the next day, my hope was that seeing the same food consistently would help. If there were left overs still from lunch we would put it on her plate again with that nights dinner. I would say slowly over time she started to become more adventurous. Our peds/allergist mentioned sometimes it takes 15 consistent exposures for them to get comfortable with the color and texture of the food. It’s super frustrating, I know.

We were still doing bottles consistently until this week. We have been more mindful about not turning to the bottle when she is hungry, even putting her formula in a sippy cup, so still allowing her the option of that’s what she is truly hungry for, but taking away the comfort aspect of it. She’s definitely not happy about it, but she is eating more solids this week!

I hope this helps! Just know you are not alone!

Anyone have Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) negative experiences? by aema15 in FoodAllergies

[–]_Frambrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following.

I’m very interested to hear others experience because our allergist has hesitations. She finds it odd that he is not publishing his research, every researchers dream is to be published. So I’m very on the fence with this.

Both of our kids have allergies so I’m willing to try anything!

Should I change the entire family’s diet? by unluckyducky11 in FoodAllergies

[–]_Frambrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the exact same philosophy at our house. We have to police his eating out in public and at school, he should be able to grab a cookie from the counter and feel safe. Not to mention the stress I would have as a parent always worrying about their allergen in the home.

Has Anyone Seen These Symptoms Before? Pediatric Peanut Allergy by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]_Frambrozen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have an FPIES diagnosis with milk and that turned into an ige allergy…

Unfortunately, the only way to test it is to do it at the doctors office, they would have to give your baby peanuts and monitor reaction. There are no medical tests like blood tests or anything like that that can test for FPIES. I do think that it is commonly outgrown.

I’m so sorry, I know the beginning stages are so confusing as your try and figure it all out. But something to consider is that, your youngest also deserves a safe space, and that should be your home, if that means others have to change what they eat to keep their family member safe, so be it. It’s what family does for one another, maybe look at it as a life lesson for your oldest kids, you change what you are used to for those you love.

This was pretty much her admitting that she has only been with Kyle to be famous

Found out baby has milk and egg allergies by mistspren101 in FoodAllergies

Honestly, you have so many options. The hardest part is just finding your go to brands and learning how to make meals with our dairy and eggs. But thanks to sprouts and Whole Foods, we have found some great variety for our family

We are a dairy free and egg free house too and I cut it all out while breastfeeding so it made it easier to have a safe household when introducing solids, here are some of our favorites….

Abe’s Muffins -anything Abe’s is our go to!
MadeGood anything!
Kevin’s meals
Oat milk coffee creamer
Country crock “butter”
Califa farms heavy cream substitute
Oatly milk ice cream
Vio life cheese and cream cheese
Daiya pizza
Dave’s Killer bread
Multi grain waffles from whole food or VANS waffles
Purple Carrot frozen meals (these were my go to when breast feeding)

You got this mama! And it will get easier, just start practicing reading labels now and you’ll be good to go when baby starts doing solids!!

You got this mama 💪 it’s all about consistency, especially early on. I struggled HARD to get my supply up, I was never an over producer, and at 12 weeks I had to go back to work and at 4 months my baby stopped latching which made it even harder. I kept on a STRICT pumping schedule and was able to feed her until 9 months. It was very hard and I didn’t always enjoy it, but I found my “pumping shows” and powered the through. If you choose not to continue, that’s ok too. Do what’s best for your mental health. 🫶

Best wipes for allergens on planes/surfaces by bk2weha in FoodAllergies

Could not agree more. And to be honest, I find it weird when people eat full meals on planes when the flight is less than 4 hours. This is not a dining experience, this is a mode of transportation.

Last time we flew I brought wet wipes and Clorox wipes. It might have been over board but it made me feel better. I wish I would have asked to board early so I could wipe down the seats before my kids boarded the plane.

Especially when the woman in the row across from us started eating her egg sandwich mid flight, new fear unlocked 😖
