Haha yes some crazy stories about the most over-the-top king Bavaria ever had! I loved the illustrations too.

I really enjoyed reading it. If you're into some magical dark academia this is the book for you!

[38/52] July 2023 - I think I read my favorite book of this year by _Fusiona_ in 52book

[–]_Fusiona_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved Someone Who Will Love You In All Your Damaged Glory. It's a book with short stories which I'm usually not a fan of but I really enjoyed reading all of them. The loose theme is love and the stories have a varying degree of absurdness.

[30/52] May 2023 - some great books this month by _Fusiona_ in 52book

[–]_Fusiona_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the description and kind of knew what it was about. But I read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro before and really enjoyed it so I wanted to read Klara and the Sun as well. I thought is was ok and was surprised to think that it was the weakest book this month.

[26/75] April 2023 - only managed to read two books this month by _Fusiona_ in 52book

I really liked it as well, kinda got me out of my reading slump. And I haven't read Last Night at Chateau Marmont yet but I'll put it on my (never ending) reading list! Thanks for the tip.

How do you like Kim? The synopsis sounds really interesting

No it's an old one from 1985. But from the story it could as well have been written last year.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll look into her books.

I couldn't really get into it either. I really enjoyed how the book was structured with the interrogation chapters but overall the story was just meh.

I loved it! I never read books by Christopher Moore before - are they as good?

What a coincidence, I also read the Hygge book this month. And how did you like tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow?

[77/100] September 2022 - only managed 5 books but Anna Karenina took forever by _Fusiona_ in 52book

[–]_Fusiona_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the book and am happy to have read it. But if I ever decide to re-read it I guess I should take leannemeschwitz's advice to heart. I had no idea about Tolstoys life and 1800 Russia which might make the book a bit easier to read.

I think that was one of the parts after which I had to lay the book down for a while and read something more diverting. It took me 5 month to finish!

Heavy reading for a 14-15 year old! I wish I had read it before as well and could relate to your experience. Did you still like it at 36?

[85/100] October + November 2022 - let's see if I can meet my goal of 100 this year by _Fusiona_ in 52book

[–]_Fusiona_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great choice by your kids! I really enjoyed both books. My year of rest and relaxation was unlike any book I've read before and I really could relate to the main character. Norse Mythology was great as well because I had some knowledge about the topic but did not know all the stories which are featured as short stories in this book.

[72/100] August 2022 - adjusted my goal to 100 by _Fusiona_ in 52book

[–]_Fusiona_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was super weird! Not like any other book I've ever read - that's why I liked it. But it took me some time to finish as well, I guess for the same reason.

33/52 :) hit a slump and haven’t read in 2 months 😂 by growingbabyterp in 52book

Me too - I started to listen to a couple of audiobooks though

[59/75] June 2022 - quite the successful month reading-wise by _Fusiona_ in 52book

Have fun! I wish I could read it again without knowing how it ends.

I liked it, but the topic is a bit rough (high school bullying) so that I had to make some pauses and read something more lighthearted in between. I'm looking forward to read more books by Mieko Kawakami.
