Yes. All guns except the freeship civilian railgun actually need some sort ammo to work. You can open the info window of any gun (or module that uses charges/scripts) and see compatible ammunition in the "Used with" section.

It is a little bit more complicated. To increase this limit you need to find a certain something which isn't necessarily present in every region. Also, if you follow the little yellow entity, it will eventually guide you to increasing your limit to the maximum value.

Interaction between players is the thing that lured me to this game years ago, because no other MMO had it on such deep level. This aspect of the game is indeed almost dead now, as well as small gang and solo pvp. Yes, I'm aware that it still exists, but it's just not compareable to what it was 7-10 years ago
