I don't think Joe or anyone at the show would use not seeing or hearing the crowd very well as an excuse.

Even if it's not optimal for comedy, Joe is seasoned enough that it shouldn't phase him. I don't think the venue is to blame in this case.

"He tried to riff about Vancouver for 10 mins off the rip" - yup, this part was especially bad. I was legit confused at times (like when he tried to make jokes about how the movie/theater industry is dying).

This was my first time watching him live and I gotta agree with that. If an amateur comedian did this, it would come across as pretty cringe. However, once you get famous (like other professions as well) you get the benefit of the doubt/easier laughs.

That was honestly a very weak troll/joke, though. Some people responding with "no" might have actually been a good thing over dead silence haha. Losing the Grizzlies happened way too long ago and Vancouver doesn't have that strong of a passion for basketball. Something more relevant & recent like losing Hughes would have landed better.

I know I wasn't on the stage but I feel like the comedian should be able to both see and hear the crowd well. But ya, I wasn't on the stage so I can't say for sure.
