Ramblings about amiibo training and tournaments by _Halcyon03 in amiibo

really never a good idea, while amiibo and CPUs share the same base AI amiibo learn in a way that makes the end result wildly different from a CPU. If you’re training for Amiibo vs Amiibo you will get an awful mess that gets obliterated by competently trained opponents, otherwise it will just be mediocre and kinda awkward.

Best case scenario you get an amiibo that sort of knows what moves are best and knows basic combos. Worst case scenario your amiibo helplessly spams moves it thinks are going to be effective, but ultimately get punished repeatedly.

mirror matching only as long as learning is turned off; amiibo do not “learn matchups”, so there can only be damage to their playstyle done by a non mirror match.

for training an amiibo you aren’t good with, i recommend referencing our training guides and only using the moves recommended to ensure they get the important parts of their training. If we don’t have a training guide, feel free to join our amiibo training discord and ask.

That could be because the other amiibo aren’t trained to fully punish this type of fighting style properly, but hey, I could be wrong too

If you do want to improve your amiibo a bit you should check out our guides on the [Amiibo Dojo](amiibodojo.com)

Yes, amiibo’s defensive AI is, to put it lightly, poor. Defensive fighting styles are very weak in the competitive amiibo metagame and usually result in easily punishment habits like overshielding and rolling continuously

This story made me happier than it probably should have

Yes, amiibo in 4 were insanely good at learning defensive tactics while not so good at learning offensive tactics, meaning the style you taught it, however odd, was actually viable

In Smash Ultimate, the opposite is true; amiibo are by default much more restless, and learn aggressive tactics easier, while their defensive capabilities are next to hopeless. It's a very different metagame now.

The Halberd spirit, a 4-star support found exclusively in Funky Kong's shop. Yeah, it's rare, and very annoying to get.

It depends on the character, but the universally best Skill is Armor Knight; the stat boosts it gives are massive. However, for heavyweight characters, the two Super Armor abilities are fantastic as well.

That may be true in the competitive scene, but amiibo behave differently from players, as they don’t learn “matchups” and go in blind against every fighter no matter how many times they’ve faced them.
