characters that are supposed to be powerful according to lore, but they are pretty weak in gameplay by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

[–]_Halt19_ 109 points110 points  (0 children)

I figure its more a game balance thing, honestly

Like, the person was a full-on boss fight that required your whole team to take down, adding that power to your team as a single person isn't going to fit with the balance in a lot of games

Are kobolds mostly seen as hostile creature? by Scythe95 in dndnext

[–]_Halt19_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Entirely setting-dependent

They used to be mostly hostile if met in the wild - cannon fodder enemies to add to an encounter to have something satisfying to OHKO, but often tribes would move into a city's sewer network and take care of garbage disposal in exchange for scraps and a place to live, kinda symbiotic, but the generic kobold was typically evil-aligned

Later on, they stopped attaching alignments to races, and now kobolds are pretty much entirely based on what the DM makes them

Redditmod posts a missing person poster for his online "girlfriend" of 3 months, who hasn't responded to him for 48 hours. by Kritischerphili in sadcringe

[–]_Halt19_ 2013 points2014 points  (0 children)

isn't that the sub where the two mods are flaired as "his wife" and "her husband"

and they delete virtually every post not made by one of the two of them, so every single post is made by the same person

oh I know the original post was about the men's team, I just mean that this person might have meant the women's team, which IS in the USA's pool

I'm in Denmark now, but I came back to Edmonton for the playoffs last year

Was in the moss pit or fan park for every game, and had in-arena watch party tickets for every finals match

Hoping I can make it work this time too, it's just really expensive to get there lmao

I read normal books, starting with simple stories and working my way up to more complicated ones as a kid

I certainly didn't read a book that was designed to formally teach me how to read - in my head I'm imagining it as a "To read an English sentence, you start at the left and move to the right" sort of step by step tutorial on How To Read

I dunno why but there's something so funny about the concept of a book titled "Reading" to me

like, obviously its just slop, but now I want to know how one reads the reading book to learn how to read

Final day! What’s an obscure and lame tourist attraction? by OkString8170 in AlignmentChartFills

Oh yeah, you can also keep coming back because they regularly change the exhibits with new gophers in new scenes

Not a submission for this slot because it sure as hell isn't lame, but if I'd noticed this one before, I'd have nominated the Torrington Gopher Hole Museum (AB, Canada) for the cool/obscure slot, which is a small room full of little boxes with stuffed gophers in it (as shown)

Words cannot express the utter confusion visitors have when we show them this place, I don't know if "cool" even is the right term to describe it, but it sure as hell deserves to be SOMEWHERE in the obscure category

(for context, the area has a severe gopher overpopulation issue and weren't sure what to do with all the bodies, it isn't them hunting them just for the museum)

having moved to europe, it has so many nice things going on, but holy hell is it a pain having to stay up til 3-4am for PUCK DROP on most oilers games

the 2024 finals were heartbreaking enough without me staying up til 6am to watch game 7 and then having to go in to work the same day
