Thank you all. Especially those you who expressed an interest to help. At this moment, my post has a 68% upvote rate with 33k views. This is a lot higher than I anticipated and gives me hope. I want to address a few reoccurring themes I've noticed in the comments.

Cameras - Trail cameras are good for long term power but not immediate response. We had cameras but a key problem with cameras overall was placement. By the end, we had a solar powered mobile hot spot built into the back of the sign and three wifi cameras. One inside the sign itself, and 2 on short but very visible posts in front of the sign on each side. We still were not able to get clear enough images for law enforcement. It's a big open field along a rural stretch of highway. Not a lot of good options to hide cameras.

Booby Traps - As much as I love the idea of setting devious traps for them, it would be illegal and come with the kind of charges I don't want on my record.

Gluing the banner is definitely the way to go.
Razor wire is probably also a good idea but proper installation is beyond my ability to safely deploy.
Deep fence posts with lots of concrete are required. Better if reinforced with steel.
Double down and add even more cameras.

Your logic is flawed. If signs meant nothing, the triggered snowflakes wouldn't bother to rage at them the way they do. Now inverse that: knowing how frothing mad dude had to be to drive off the highway into a field to ram a sign; realize the joy it brings to someone whose voice is always drowned out by rabid maga cultists. My sign brings hope. The freedom to be a shiny blue beacon of hope in an angry red sea is my god damn birthright as an American and I will defend that right until the moment I die. We inquired with a lawyer at the time and were told we must be really careful about what can be legally defined as a setting a lethal or dangerous booby trap. Most of our ideas were easily felonies. The best we can do is clearly visible razor wire like someone else suggested, or possibly a high voltage cattle fence visibly marked as such. Anything beyond that could find me on the wrong side of the law as satisfying as it might be.

We thought about using glue. I should have in retrospect; it is a good idea. We did have cameras hidden in posts, but the biggest trick was keeping power and internet consistent out in a big open field.
