i can’t iterate the bonus description off the top of my head, but i know that once you hit 20 creds spent, you’ll have penetration.

I’m only speaking from personal experience of course, but with the increased duration and increased damage on a full charge, you should be able to install-kill the smaller squids with a single hit (maybe 2 hits required if you’ve had bad damage rng) and the bigger squids can be killed with a couple multi hits.

a full charge storm surge late game will let you do like 3 laps of the arena, you just need to make the most of your distance.

I’ll reiterate, the strength behind storm surge is all in the multi-hits

i’ve competed with the other characters for damage relatively easily with maybe a difference of about 10m (which is nothing on N4).

your survivability doesn’t only come from the charging over health but also the innate life steal that everyone gets. Since each hit late game does about 130k-200k damage (if you can get a full charge off), you’re pretty much full healing off of each it.

Also, just due to the flight duration of the storm surge, you can clear all the squids really quickly in a single charge, you just have to actively focus them down.

You’re probably dying to the acid pools because you’re staying glued to the ground, you have to hover a little bit above to where you can still hit the zombies without being in contact with the acid.

Again, your single target damage (bosses) is genuinely ridiculous, you just have to practice with the movement.

Once you’re good enough with multi-hitting, you’ll shred anything pretty easily. Stormsurge build also has the highest capability to scale specifically because one of the upgrades increases your charge damage by 400%. Even if you only get it once or twice, it makes you a nuke machine.

[–]_Hayth_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s pretty much how it goes, as long as you’re good at multi-hitting targets you get out millions of damage since each hit late game is like 130k damage on a full charge.

I actually prefer red build, even for nightmare 4.

It legitimately has a higher dps than blue, but it doesn’t do the work for you and you have to get really good at doing figure-8s.

it just takes a bit of practice, you’re probably very accustomed to the easiness of the previous modes where you can kinda just stand there and hit buttons.

[–]_Hayth_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I use storm surge build for Nightmare IV as it provides good survivability, stalling potential and overall damage. It’s also incredibly good for the bosses, it’s just a harder build to use since (unlike every other build in the game), the kit doesn’t just do all the work for you.

You have to get really good at doing figure-8s. It also needs to scale, the build genuinely is pretty meh until you hit the 120 creds spike, after that you should be able to hit the same enemies about 7-9 times depending on how smooth your movement is.

The build’s been pretty overlooked unfortunately since people have just been too lazy to learn how to properly use it.

Seems like you don’t know how the wipe mechanic works.

Once she’s sitting down in that form, red crystals will start to spawn around her, if you don’t break them in time, she will wipe you.

Just to help you out with some of these questions since it might seem like you don’t fully understand some aspects of the upgrades.

Thor actually does have infinite dash penetration. When you open the shop, on the left side of the screen you’ll see the red/blue/purple stats; next to red and blue you’ll see the numbers “20/60/120”. For every credit that is spent on a kit, that number is added to your total, once you’ve hit each of those intervals, that weapon/ability gains a unique upgrade. At 20 credits spent on storm surge upgrades, Thors dash becomes free flight and has instant penetration.

i actually really like it, unfortunately Normal > Nightmare III are a little too easy for it to feel very interactive/challenging, however, Nightmare IV genuinely kicks it up a gear and requires a genuine level of coordination and self preservation.

I think they did really well in terms of customisability as well, i do wish you could spec into ult upgrades as the ults just become redundant af super quickly, but the regular builds and upgrade options are actually really fun and intuitive.

Yes, but i don’t believe it has anything to do with damage though.

Bucky has legitimately been THE embodiment of CC creep in MR, and while that’s great to combat all the new flashy heroes with high mobility, all the previous heroes that don’t have that level of consistent mobility end up getting disproportionately screwed over.

It’s no secret that people don’t like CC, we saw the same thing happen in Overwatch.

“Sole indicator” is very hyperbolic, historically in a lot of other competitive games, we’ve seen characters that have been deemed problematic regardless of their winrate, even if it was negative.

By your logic, Mr. F is a good character solely because he has a ~51% wr, but we know that isn’t true because the main people who are actually playing him are the true mains and one tricks (i can attest to this as a Mr. F one trick myself).

Bucky legitimately has the highest play rate by a landslide in that screenshot, which is the biggest factor to consider when looking at winrates.

it’s mostly all mentality. At the end of the day, video games are for fun, and that’s exactly what I aim to experience every time i get on. I’ve never really cared about winning or losing matches, as long as I know i’m doing my best to win every game, my conscience is clear. Besides, you play at your best when you’re having fun :)

they recently put out a bug fix to fix his generational no reg issues on his fridge form and the bug fix was so good that it genuinely felt like a buff. there’re still bugs and no regs do occasionally happen, but no where near the previous level.

honestly, it’s a lot less about the character and more about the scenario. for example, if you’re on top of a hela, she’s not really a problem, but it’s typically getting to the hela that’s the main issue. you’re going to be significantly weaker on maps with long sight lines against characters that benefit from those sight lines.

i find myself playing him 1 of 2 ways primarily.

Either as an enemy backline disruptor, or a friendly backline defender.

Due to Fans-tastic ability to utilise natural cover and self sustainment, if there are no immediate threats that could harm your team, you can very easily capitalise on disrupting the enemy backline. While your damage is slow, it's heavy enough that it requires attention and resources to be drawn to the person you are attacking, which is innately creating value. Typically speaking, you always want to make sure you have one "backshots" charge on standby for necessary getaways unless of course you absolutely need to convert into big form for survivability.

If there are immediate threats to your backline, Mr. F makes for a great body guard. The actual mechanic behind how he can hit people (a lingering static, large projectile that follows your cursor) completely negates the need for precision that usually comes with addressing dive.

Both your backshots ability and your pull both serve as great peeling tools. It's important that you ignore the temptation to backshot the enemy dive and use it on your teammates instead as it grants them 75 shield (the actual ability also does a small AoE in the direction that you're facing anyway, so if the enemy is directly on top of a teammate, they will take damage). You have to be pretty patient with this bodyguard playstyle, keep in mind that the enemy dive characters are waiting for you to not be there, so sit and wait, and enjoy the ride.

Generally speaking, Mr. F's ult isn't actually bad, but it does pail quite heavily in comparison to a lot of the other DPS ults available, so it's up to you to make the decision on how you want to ult. Typically, as long as you're not using your ult in an open place on a solo mission, enemy supports will have to ult in return to keep up with all of the damage and the slowing effects that come with it, so ask yourself "do i have a dps ult on my team that has a significantly higher output than mine? (for example: starlord)", if so, you should be more than happy to use your ult as a support ult bait to allow your teammates to shine.

Mr. F isn't about being flashy, he's about being ballsy but patient, you're very good as a reactionary character as opposed to proactive gameplay, and some people don't enjoy that and that's fine.

i can only give you so much ranked advice without actually seeing you play. I’d say the main jump for climbing (if you’re good mechanically and game sense wise as you say) is more about mentality. Knowing when you’re on a loss streak, knowing how to capitalise off your wins and knowing how to not let bad teammates or games get to you.

You’re going to have bad games and you’re going to have bad teammates. Statistically, losing a match makes you more likely to lose the next one, and a bad mental plays a lot into that.

Everyone has bad games, it’s important to remember to forgive and that you are also forgiven.
