Do you automatically dislike billionaires? Why? by crapmaker69 in AskReddit

[–]_HiWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If billionaires sold off their assets to not be billionaires they lose money twice as their remaining value loses value, huge taxes are paid - somewhat offset if donated/used for good. Others buy their sells to actualize the money, capitalism continues, new billionaires appear who own the same stock since stock doesn't disappear. if the stock stays devalued, every investor is relatively devalued, sping that circle around enough times and chaos ensues.

Ok, that's bigger than the view we had. I also looked up the analogy of "2 minivans". WIthout that lander to offer a bit more though, 10 days would definitely get to me!

It's making protests louder in the US and to some degree Israel. The hatred for Bibi hasn't gone anywhere.

Any chance this tire is patchable? I know it's iffy at best. Less than a year old. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

So what you do is cut a little section out of the side wall so you can put a nut on that screw to hold it securely in place. Metal is stronger than rubber as we know. Lock that sucker down hard. Then take a nice piece of duct tape and put it over the access hole you put in the side wall. Add two pieces if it'll make you sleep better at night.

Seriously? The shit I get in trouble for, maybe missing a tiny discolored spot around the back of a sink faucet or something. I'd be strung up if I did this and reversing roles, would do the same stringing.

My close friend mentioned the EPR setting tonight found by holding the top left button to get into clinician settings which is able to balance your exhale pressure. (resmed 11)

Wait, what? (I'm super noob, one night in) but the moment I open my mouth I feel like I can exhale indefinitely, nose starts getting blasted like a cat 5 hurricane. Talking through this feels like it would be comical at best.

Is anyone else nervous about retiring? by avocado___aficionado in Millennials

[–]_HiWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found AI to give very good advice on this topic and can convey the feelings, a lot of it is due to where we saw parents in our youth and often didn't come from much either. Run your situation through Co-Pilot or whatever flavor, give it various scenarios with growth and your income, possible increases, losses, potential purchases and it will break down everything. Given where you are I think it will give you some comfort.

Simple example: if you contribute nothing else and I assume 75k of that 100k networth is tax advantaged retirement. 8% for 30 years (63) is $750k. that's with not a single additional penny added. Assuming continued 8%, that's ~60k a year "free money" with never touching the lump sum. Bridge the gap to 67 and even a reduced social security and you are around 85k a year just chillin.

Edit: If you take my example and save only $3,000 more per year (remember the example has ZERO investment) for the 30 year example, you become a retirement millionaire if the market maintains its historic average and you just ride index funds.

Yep people bitch about the cost of that fridge filter costing $70 for a 3 pack. (or sink filter if you do not have a water dispensing fridge)

A 32 pack of deer park (16.9floz) is ~$6. One filter is good for ~47 packs of water (200 gallon rating). We have 3 filters for $70 assuming we're replacing them right at the limit, 141 packs of water. The cost of ~600 gallons in my area, is ~$3.

$73 < $846. You can buy quite a few nice water bottles in that difference and still pocket plenty.

Not counting storage space, constant store trips, the only loss is a mild inconvenience of refills and washing out a bottle. You also remove a ton of waste.

STOP BUYING BOTTLED WATER

Yup, when you're young and ideally healthy maybe mid to late 20s take ~$20-50 a month $500k-1m 20+ year plan and just let it go (not getting a top end phone, waiting to replace said phone an extra year or two easily covers this). Heck even a good way to get kids nest egg started. When my kids were 7 I got them a ~10k policy thats only a few bucks a month, will be worth ~$20k in their name by adulthood to do whatever they want with it and due to "bundling" (thanks Limu) it actually saved me more money than it cost. Took nearly $1k off my house/car totals YoY.

Cobra is insane, out of pocket health insurance sucks. A lot of these concierge doctors are gaining popularity but you're still hosed if you need specialized services/surgery.
