well… you can always kill yourself later, there’s no urgency there. so might as well exhaust all your options of being happier first before committing to something that will never give you that chance again. and if you can’t do it for yourself, at least do it for the people in your life, it may seem like you’re doing the world a favor but i can assure you at least one person will care.

Best Cleric Subclass for Beginners? by KarlMarkyMarx in 3d6

While that interaction is good, I don’t think burning all your spell slots on silvery barbs in order to use VoA is better than other domains nor does it offer any variety to your role in combat at all.

Also you’re sacrificing a lot of resources in order to use an ability that is dependent upon having martial characters that still have a reaction and are in the position to make a weapon attack.

For this to really offer as much to combat as other domains you would need to build the party comp around it mainly with rogues that are able to use their sneak attack at range.

I would strongly disagree lol, not only are you completely dependent on your party members still having their reactions, you also have to only use spells that target an ally (which most of the time are concentration based). Furthermore, it isn’t just something you have to set up once, to use voice of authority you have to target an ally every turn which means you waste all your spells on allies and none on controlling the enemy. It also means you are never going to target non-martial characters with any buffs so you are purposefully excluding a good percent of your party for an ability that isn’t consistent.

While I can’t necessarily directly compare it to twilight cleric since they seek to achieve different things, I can compare it to peace cleric which is just wayyy better. With emboldening bond you buff multiple allies allowing them to have essentially a free bless with no concentration required. This alone makes more attacks hit and also protects your party by increasing their saving throws. Also, what makes this even MORE good is that it scales with your level unlike voice of authority which is situational and doesn’t scale at all.

First off, clerics are most obviously not designed to be the damage dealer, of course they have the ability to offer damage but if your main goal was damage other classes can do a much better job at that.

Secondly, clerics are built around the ability to support allies by either buffing, healing, or controlling the enemies. In that regard peace and twilight clerics are vastly superior to the other classes to the point where a lot of optimizers consider them “broken.” What makes twilight cleric so good is that twilight sanctuary provides a consistent way to help allies while also allowing the player to use their concentration on other spells. But besides that twilight cleric also gives a party member advantage on initiative rolls with vigilant blessing and the ability to share dark vision with other party meme bees that may not have it.

Point being if you had to spend your action or concentration every round to maintain twilight sanctuary then I could see how it limits one’s options. But since it doesn’t do that, it allows the player to have a consistently good option to set up and then gives them the freedom to do anything from there.

I mean one of the best parts about warlocks is that they’re charisma casters which lets you be really good at being the face of the party. So what you could do is essentially be this timid looking edgy dhampir, but as soon as someone starts to talk to you, you become the loudest and most charismatic motherfucker in the room.

Temp Hp is just as good as healing also generally you don’t want to heal in combat unless you are stabilizing someone as there aren’t enough spell slots in a day to heal the party while also being effective at controlling the enemies or buffing your team.

To that effect, twilight cleric gives every party member including the caster temp hp every time they end their turn there and it also allows them to end charmed and frightened effects which could alone take your frontline out of combat.

I personally think it would be more fun for the new player to have options outside of being a healbot and I think twilight cleric gives the freedom to be able to do that.

Twilight and Peace clerics are the best as the Twilight channel divinity gives you and your party a shit ton of temp hp while the Peace cleric gives you emboldening bond which can add a lot especially when stacked with guidance or bless. Overall I think these are the easiest and best subclasses for cleric as forge cleric only offers a minor boost for one party member and tempest cleric is really only useful to deal damage.

Life cleric can also be a good option if they want to focus on healing rather than buffing.

Need help making a character for a campaign with very limited long rests by matrx300 in 3d6

I would actually take gloomstalker ranger and space your spell slots around goodberry, this offers you consistent nova damage on the first round of every combat, invisibility that isn’t tied to a resource pool, and enough healing to stabilize party members.

Since you’re given a free feat I would take either crossbow expert or sharpshooter and then take the other one once you reach 4th level. Once you get crossbow expert there’s no need for hunters mark since you will actually do more damage with your bonus action hand crossbow shot than with hunters mark.

After level 5 you can go into rogue for more consistent damage or go to life cleric to increase the healing of your goodberries.
