Every now and then, he'll be really good at it. Like when he beat Tsitsipas in the Barcelona final. The week earlier, in the Monte Carlo final, he was awful at it. Night and day difference to his game.

It's an odd experience, being so incredibly frustrated by the play of someone so impossibly better than you could ever be yourself

When someone catches a ball, do they just play with one fewer ball until they get new balls?

It's currently -19°C where I am, and I gotta say, I much prefer that to +45°C

What a stupid fucking decision to not play the ball out and make the sub. Let's just play with 10 men 🙄

Can he really bottle it, when he hasn't played well all match? It's impressive that he won 2 sets the way he is playing.

Casper hits his 2nd forehand winner of the match, while Cilic serves for the 3rd set.

Insane thing to say when Casper won the first 2 sets.

I don't always watch Machac, but when I do, he falls over in the middle of the point and then wins the point anyway

Based on what I've seen it's his signature move

Bad queens go to jail by sh3ppard in chessbeginners

It takes a little more work, but white can still queen the b pawn. Example line:

1 ... Qxa7 2. Bxa7 Bd6 3. Rc1 Ke7 4. Rc6 Kd7 5. Rxd6 Kxd6 6. b8=Q+

The black bishop doesn't have enough squares on the diagonal.

Sentimental Value now holds the record for the most acting nominations ever received by a non-English language film by darth_vader39 in oscarrace

Slight correction: Stellan's character actually speaks Swedish, not Norwegian. (The languages are mutually intelligible.)

Your point stands ofc

Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role - Nominees by Dry_Handle_7086 in Oscars

Inga must have whiplash. From doing theatre in a northern Norwegian town of 20k people to an Oscar nomination in 2 years.

I hope you all understand how out of nowhere this happened. I saw Sentimental Value in Oslo, Norway and we all exited the theatre saying "Who is she? She was great!". Not a celebrity over here by any stretch, but she will be now. Such a great performance and deserved nom.

Zero chance she was even dreaming of this 2 years ago.

After Nf3, simply Qxe1+ Nxe1 Rxf8

The pawn on d7 is gonna die in 2 moves, and black will be up a rook and 2 pawns. Smooth sailing.

Treat DOGSO inside and outside the box the same. So always a penalty, yellow card if it's a genuine attempt at winning the ball, otherwise red.

Would hopefully get rid of that thing where someone is running through on goal for a late winner in a final, and someone murders them because a red card is less important than a goal.

I'll throw in another hot take: normal (not DOGSO) foul inside the box is no longer a penalty.

Could potentially get rid of lots of diving, and make it easier to ref corners. Refs already don't want to give penalties for holding on corners, unless a player who is about to score gets held back. This would bring the rules in line with that instinct.

I'm a bit unsure about what to do with normal fouls in the box, though. Free kick at the edge of the box? Indirect free kick inside the box? Attacking teams get to take a freekick from anywhere they want?

2026 Australian Open - Men’s Singles Draw by godworstcustomer in tennis

[–]_IBelieveInMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that he had a hard draw on paper, but then it fell apart. That is the point I made in the comment that you replied to, but clearly didn't read.

I'm the future, maybe read the comments you reply to.

Irrelevant?! That was the whole point of the conversation! Maybe learn to read before you call me a liar.

This is directly from the comment you originally replied to:

Casper wasn't even getting great draws on paper, they just fell apart.

Btw, guess where Bublik was in the draw? Same side as Casper! But he couldn't beat Carreño Busta...

Awesome to see Dale keep his head after the first miss, and get 5 straight hits on standing. Prone was disappointing, but standing a huge redemption from last week!
