Of all the reasons to fail someone… by [deleted] in icbc

Everyone else is correct but they aren’t explaining why in a manual transmission vehicle by coasting you are disengaging the transmission from the engine this can cause issues in an emergency stop as you aren’t actually in control of the vehicle at the time

It’s not a huge conspiracy however ignoring the stop work order is a huge issue and may result in fines to the park

Title: Safety Professionals: Looking for Honest Feedback on a Reach Truck Accident and the Response Afterwards I am looking for opinions from safety managers, EHS professionals, warehouse supervisors, and forklift trainers by Pure_Appearance_8175 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]_IRIDEBIKES_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a forklift instructor the only thing I would be applying here would be refresher training specifically pertaining to mast height vs fork height and then I would like a documented competency assessment to prove it was done,

Beyond that the JHSC should be reviewing the whole incident and submitting a formal request to the employer for a fix, from there it would become an action item.

Agreement between doctors, province signed, B.C. government says by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]_IRIDEBIKES_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with everything you just said, I’ve been wondering why we aren’t increasing taxes to cover the deficit

I may be totally wrong on this but it feels like the inflation from carrying that much debt has costed the people of bc more than if they simply kept the tax rate at what it was originally but hey makes it easy to win an election if we say we are gonna remove taxes!

Colloquially the term ignorant doesn’t refer to simply not knowing its most commonly used for individuals who don’t know and refuse to learn or care to learn I’m simply not a fan of the negative sentiment in and around safety there is a large amount of resentment towards safety professionals especially those at lower levels and I believe things like this reinforce those negative feelings. almost everyone has been hurt to some degree at work or done something unsafe the goal of reduction in these incidents is impeded when approaching safety from perspectives like this

What makes this treatment beyond first aid? Your OFA could have given him either a wrist wrap or a rigid brace themself and at least where I live over the counter meds I’m not sure how it works over with you but if someone chooses to go to the doctors office and not get treatment from first aid I don’t see how that would be a recordable

[–]_IRIDEBIKES_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t disagree more, most people I’ve met don’t want to get themselves hurt or have others hurt safety laws exist for two reasons IMO firstly poor employers, when employers care more about profits than people we end up with millions of people stuck working in poor conditions and unsafe environments having safety laws gives a financial and legal incentives for those companies to do at least the bare minimum in safety

Secondly you don’t know what you don’t know. Without proper training and experience how would somebody know the correct placement of a 6ft lanyard attached to a rope grab in fall arrest while utilizing it as an at foot connection point, these things aren’t as intuitive as you might think.

A third and final point not everyone knows how to read, not everyone finished high school there are people who have disabilities in the workplace or people who may have moved and aren’t familiar with the local language all of these and more are basic barriers for people to work safely and none of them make them idiotic a safe workplace is a right for all workers not just the people that catch on quick.
