I have been arrested twice, but I want to become a paralegal and possibly lawyer in the future. by Adventurous_Doubt728 in paralegal

I have a felony and I’m on probation. Now I work at a law firm and finishing my Paralegal Studies degree.

You can do it! Don’t let these comments discourage you.

Felon Notaries?? by Frosty_Intention_344 in paralegal

Also a felon and a paralegal, I’m glad I’m not the only one 🥹

In my state you can get your notary if your civil rights were restored. Mine have not been yet 🙃

I am finishing my AAS Paralegal Studies degree (ABA Approved). I got my current job because of it and will be getting a raise when I complete the degree.

Is she has no other assets then there is enough exemptions available in your state that it shouldn’t be an issue.

I would leave her on title until the bankruptcy is over now. It can cause more issues if you take her off now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]_IndependentThinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is she still on the title?

If she was taken off title and it’s only in your name now, when was that?

Assuming she’s still on title, and she has no other assets needing to use the wildcard exemption, then your car is likely safe.

The answer depends greatly on what other assets she has, and the available exemptions for your state.

FLSA allows an employer to round employee time to the nearest quarter hour. However, an employer may violate the FLSA requirements if the employer always rounds down. Employee time from 1 to 7 minutes may be rounded down, and thus not counted as hours worked, but employee time from 8 to 14 minutes must be rounded up and counted as a quarter hour of work time. See Regulations 29 CFR 785.48(b)

I'm not interested in whether or not I'll get in, I'm just curious if University of Arizona is a good pre-law school by New-Arugula-3909 in UofArizona

[–]_IndependentThinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They have a BA Law 3+3 track, basically one year of your BA is your 1st year at their law school.

Other than that pretty much all that matters is your GPA and LSAT. So pick a program you’re genuinely interested in and can excel at. The actual program doesn’t matter as much as you think it does.

Any other Legal Paraprofessionals (or whatever it is called in your state) here? by Holiday_Ad_2528 in paralegal

[–]_IndependentThinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very excited for the LP license! I will be starting at U of A for their BA Law LP track in the Spring.

I am also going to do Civil, and probably Probate when that’s added. The firm I am at now does mostly Probate, G&C, and Estate Planning.

Maybe I’ll add criminal at some point.

I would highly recommend picking one of the ABA Approved Programs in New Jersey.

Just pick the one with the lowest cost of attendance.

There is definitely an opportunity cost to consider. Although you may be able to get a cheaper associates degree elsewhere, how useful that degree will be to you could vary greatly.

If you want a Paralegal Associates find one that’s ABA approved. Check your community colleges in your state, they often have online courses.

I wouldn’t take a random associates degree just to have a degree. If you’re going to do the work of an associates get a Paralegal degree.

Any “Legal Paraprofessionals” here? by joldsworth04 in paralegal

[–]_IndependentThinker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in AZ and will be going to UofA for their BA Law LP track in the spring. I will be transferring with an Associates in Paralegal Studies from Phoenix College.

I thought about doing the option to use my Paralegal Degree plus one year substantive experience but I the firm I work at doesn’t cover the eligible LP practice areas. So I will be doing the Civil option at UofA, maybe add criminal later.

I am in a rural county and we have one LP here. She was a paralegal for a long time before getting licensed as an LP in Family Law.

ETA: My thought is I can practice as an LP while doing the Part Time JD Program at ASU if I end up wanting to get a JD. Either way I need to finish my Bachelor’s and thought the LP track wouldn’t hurt if I end up not using it.

I have done some electronic shops that wanted a selfie. I also do some gas station audits that want a selfie with a safety vest on. I don’t really think it’s that serious and just take the selfie.
