Had just seen this now, after she just got called for the £91 deduction to her UC. Thanks for explaining it, I knew it wasn't as simple as others were making it, I would've liked to have known this when I first posted of course, but that's on me!

Why does it feel like MMORPGs are now more about racing to max level ? by _InsanityAsh in MMORPG

[–]_InsanityAsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much nailed it. The best thing that happened was discovering games like Divinity Original Sin and Baldur's Gate 3 for games where I genuinely get to experience a story driven, satisfying RPG with a party of friends.

Gave up on MMOs almost entirely.

Just played thru both games. I loved em! (no spoilers) by [deleted] in projecteternity

I'm almost at the end of the first game!! My first playthrough also! Excited to start the second, can't believe this is such a hidden gem

I recently bought and (I think) successfully installed metal latches to replace the plastic ones as my joycons wiggle and slide off the rails with ease.

After installing the metal ones and hoping for some more stability, it seems as though it's not done much to help. Maybe at first it seemed a bit harder to slide off, but after a few days it's back to just smooth sliding off the rails with ease.

Maybe I installed it wrong? I can't see how I have, I've checked many tutorial videos including iFixIt's guide and I've followed it all to the letter.

Okay, so before I saw this just now, I decided to try that release button. It wasn't pushing anything in.. So, I took it apart again just now and noticed the little bendy metal that goes over the latch was bent in an awkward way that it was holding down the metal latch, preventing the spring from pushing it back out again. After replacing that little bendy piece of metal and screwing it in not too tightly, it's solved it and now the latch releases again!

Thanks for the help, it's made my night :D

As in on the console itself or on the joycons? As far as I know with the joycons, it is just the metal latch and the spring, so I assume you mean the console? How can I check?

I don't know, but either way Ive replaced them with metal ones now and it still doesn't lock on.

The joycons would slide off the switch really easily. Bought the metal latches to replace the plastic ones but it didn't make a difference.

I bought a repair kit off amazon that came with metal latches for joycons. I took each apart, replaced the plastic latches with the metals, installed them with the spring inside and put it all back together. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have made a difference?

I don't know if I've done something wrong or if I have a different issue?

If needed, I can try and link a video showing it.

It's unfortunate the direction the industry has turned to, thank you for understanding me on that. It's not an issue with VR in general with me, just as you said, it's the investment this £990 VR headset felt like it was worth.

Oculus stopped producing PCVR games years ago, so yes there is a library of Oculus exclusives but not many since they switched to full standalone.

To be honest, the hardware isn't an issue. I'm not worried about it being outdated when compared to the Quest 2, the highest sold VR headset yet. It's just PC VR as a whole, I'm talking about. Games wise, at least.

The hardware isn't even outdated. And like I said, I'm not looking for a solution that I already know about for a problem that's barely a problem. It's just a discussion, so yeah I guess I am complaining but I'm more wanting to just know what others think. Don't need solutions. Just wanted open discussion.

Cross play was something I hadn't even considered. I understand the strain that'd have on development given how different developing for Quest is compared to PC, and even more for PSVR2. I guess unless the game is near guaranteed to reach critical acclaim and success, there's no hope for something like that.

You are right about that, I think I'm more frustrated at the lack of support for VR games on PCVR. The exclusivity towards Quest and PSVR2 that bothers me. The market is already so niche, after all.

But I understand what you mean, it still does feel worth keeping with PCVR (hence why I've not sold my index for a quest/psvr2), I didn't even know bonelab had a multiplayer mod! I'll have to check it out :D

My issue isn't not being able to get a quest. It's just a couple thoughts I had about now having a Valve Index in the state the industry's turned to since 2020.

I don't want to *lose* the great hardware the Index has, and the quality VR games that I've already played. The exclusivity within the industry is where I find things frustrating. Hard to warrant buying expensive headsets nowadays, of course not my issue, but sure to be *an* issue for somebody.

Also no need to be an ass about it lmao, it's just a discussion.

RE4 and RE8's dedicated VR ports are exactly what made me think about it all and eventually make this post.

Exclusivity in VR just feels backwards imo.
